MM/KM on Velours:
Velours is a soft, velvety fabric. There is clothing made of velours, and there is also furniture upholstered with this material. A friend once had a large French car whose entire interior was covered in velours. She called it the “velours salon.” We liked riding in that car, and we even drove to a gig in it once.
We associate velours with a feeling of soft, warm, carefree comfort. The color of the velours fabric shimmers and changes slightly when you brush across it. The way velours shimmers and the way it feels is how the pieces on this record sound.
