Wenn man erfolgreich ist, hat man Neider. Das habe ich die letzten Wochen zu spüren bekommen, als jemand überraschenderweise einen Angriff gegen meine Webseite geführt hat. Da meine Sichtbarkeit auf Google infolgedessen völlig eingebrochen war, habe ich aus der Not eine Tugend gemacht und zusätzlich eine sehr einfache Visitenkarte eingerichtet, die sich an deutschsprachige Interessent:innen richtet. Ich werde zudem in den nächsten Wochen immer mal kleinere Beiträge posten, die sich auf zurückliegende Produktionen beziehen, die von mir bislang nur in Stories erwähnt wurden - um meine Tätigkeiten auch für Nicht-Follower nachvollziehbar zu halten.

It’s time for Beethoven!

I am simply thrilled to share this with you - to be released in full on 21 November.

Beethoven’s late masterpiece, the Piano Sonata Opus 109, is at the heart of the album while around it orbit works by Bach and Schubert.

This seems to be the first Leipziger Grammy, so it is especially nice it is linked to a work by Johann Sebastian Bach.

On my way home from Cologne, where I was recording at Deutschlandfunk with Daniel Behle and Alliage Quintett. This was already my 4th album recording with Daniel Behle, and it's always a great pleasure working together!
On a side note, this trip made me realize that I am still not a big fan of Kölsch.

So, I still haven't completely processed this. Congratulations, dear Víkingur, for your Grammy Award. It's an honor and joy to work with you and I am grateful to be part of the ride. ❤️

Last season I performed The Goldberg Variations almost a hundred times all over the world. I got to know myself through that process and I got to witness the unique power of Bach’s message on people of different cultures. It was a life-changing experience for which I will always be grateful. Winning a Grammy for my album of The Goldbergs is something very special which I can’t quite put into words. I am indebted to so many people; my incredible teams at Deutsche Grammophon and HarrisonParrott, my producer Christopher Tarnow, executive producer Christian Badzura, and - most importantly - my listeners who have given so much to me with their ongoing support and open ears.
