A collaborative exhibition by GeoVanna Gonzalez and Anastasia Muna.

Both artists work with and against the aesthetic norms of consumer culture: this hyper-reality that somehow defines our new reality; an impossible vision made supra-normal.

The show’s title, ‘I’m Missing More Than Just Your Body’, is a line from a Justin Bieber song. Shallow and artificial; a cutting reflection on how we communicate and objectify each other; poetry itself.

The sculptures of Gonzalez are recontextualised by Muna’s photographs, made different, or remade again to be consumed again. Digitized and archived, more and less present for being more or less obliterated by pixels.

These two artists are found in a state of permanent clicking, picking, reworking, and polishing: making a digital past, evolving a public portfolio, sharing their brands for all to see. They play with the idea of how the archive shapes the meaning of a work of art, and a body of art; and how we’re placed both within and mechanically, manically distanced from them.

A sound composition accompanies the show, created by Tomas and Tyson Wischerath, a twin music producer duo from San Francisco. Inspired by a Selena Gomez shampoo commercial, the piece features computer generated sounds that sound just like nature. One of Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriends, Gomez becomes another missing body, another archived art piece. Consumed, then dumped.
