Programm im Juni

Das documenta archiv eröffnet am 2. Juni um 11 Uhr die Studioausstellung „Bazon Brock – 90 Jahre in Aktion“ mit einem kuratorischen Gespräch im Lesesaal.

Am 10. Juni um 17 Uhr können Interessierte die Ausstellung von Peter Fischli gemeinsam mit einem Mitglied aus dem kuratorischen Team des Fridericianum entdecken.

Vom 11. bis 12. Juni veranstaltet das documenta archiv im Fridericianum die „Kasseler Brock-Tage: Bazon Brock – 90 Jahre in Aktion“ mit Filmen, Vorträgen und Diskussionen.

Zu den Themen Vielfalt, Gleichberechtigung und Inklusion diskutieren Martin Fokken (Produktion und Technik), Andrea Linnenkohl (Ausstellungsmanagement) und Robert Peper (Organisationales Lernen) am 16. Juni um 18 Uhr in der Forschungstation TRACES am Lutherplatz.

Jeden letzten Donnerstag (25. Juni ab 18.30 Uhr) lädt das Fridericianum zu „F wie Feierabend“ ein: die Ausstellungen sind bis 20 Uhr geöffnet, das Café bis 21 Uhr.

Öffentliche Führungen zu den Ausstellungen im Fridericianum finden mittwochs und sonntags statt. Die Kosten für die Führungen sind im Eintrittspreis enthalten. Die Studiowerkstatt ist für Jung und Alt ab 5 Jahren jeden Samstag von 11 bis 13 Uhr geöffnet. Kinder müssen von einem Erwachsenen begleitet werden.

Program in June

documenta archiv will open the studio exhibition “Bazon Brock – 90 Years in Action” on June 2 at 11 am with a curatorial talk in the reading room.

On June 10 at 5 pm, visitors can explore the exhibition by Peter Fischli together with a member of the Fridericianum’s curatorial team.

From June 11 to 12, the documenta archiv will host the “Kassel Brock Days: Bazon Brock – 90 Years in Action” at the Fridericianum, featuring films, lectures, and discussions.

Martin Fokken (Production and Technical Department), Andrea Linnenkohl (Exhibition Management), and Robert Peper (Organizational Learning) will discuss the topics of diversity, equality and inclusion on June 16 at 6 pm at the TRACES Research Station on Lutherplatz.

Every last Thursday (June 25 starting at 6.30 pm), the Fridericianum invites you to “F wie Feierabend”: The exhibitions are open until 8 pm, the café until 9 pm.

Public tours of the exhibitions at the Fridericianum take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. The cost of the tours is included in the admission price. The Studiowerkstatt is open to everyone aged 5 and up every Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Programm im Mai

Am 6. Mai um 19 Uhr führt ein*e Kurator*in des Fridericianum Besuchende durch die Ausstellung von Catherine Opie.

Interessierte können am 7. Mai um 19 Uhr bei einem Rundgang durch die noch in der Aufbauphase befindlichen Schau von Peter Fischli einen Blick hinter die Kulissen werfen.

Das documenta archiv lädt zur Konferenz des Forschungsprojekts „Subverting Archival Practices“ vom 7. bis zum 9. Mai im Fridericianum Veranstaltungssaal ein. Die Konferenz befasst sich mit Fragen der digitalen Infrastruktur und der Arbeitsmethoden im Kontext selbstorganisierter, gemeinschafts- und künstlergeführter Archivierungspraktiken. Anmeldung bis 3. Mai unter [email protected]. Die Veranstaltung findet in englischer Sprache statt.

Am 17. Mai findet anlässlich des Internationalen Museumtags ein vielfältiges Programm aus Kreativworkshops, Führungen und einer besonderen Aktion für Kinder im Fridericianum statt. Der Eintritt in die Ausstellungen ist an diesem Tag kostenfrei.

Das Fridericianum lädt am 22. Mai um 19 Uhr zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung von Peter Fischli ein. Die Kindervernissage findet von 17.30 bis 19 Uhr statt.

SAVE THE DATE Tue Greenfort: Lebende Erde – Ein Blick in die unsichtbaren Lebensräume unter unseren Füßen

26. April 2026 um 11 Uhr auf dem Friedrichsplatz und im Fridericianum.

Anlässlich des Kasseler Umwelt- und Kulturfests zum Tag der Erde realisiert der dänische Künstler Tue Greenfort (documenta 13, 2012) ein partizipatives Kunstprojekt vor dem Fridericianum in Kassel: Eine Tonne Erde auf dem Friedrichsplatz lädt Interessierte ein, daraus kleine Objekte zu formen. Diese werden im Erdgeschoss der Kunsthalle zu einem großen Gemeinschaftskunstwerk zusammengefügt.

Das Angebot richtet sich an alle Altersgruppen (Kinder nur in Begleitung Erwachsener). Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich, Kommen und Gehen ist jederzeit möglich. Die Teilnahme am Kunstprojekt sowie der Ausstellungsbesuch sind am Tag der Erde kostenfrei.

SAVE THE DATE Tue Greenfort: Living Earth – A Glimpse into the Invisible Habitats Beneath Our Feet

April 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Friedrichsplatz and the Fridericianum.

To mark Earth Day, Danish artist Tue Greenfort (documenta 13, 2012) is presenting an collaborative art project in front of the Fridericianum in Kassel: A ton of soil on Friedrichsplatz invites visitors to shape small objects from it. These will be assembled into a large collaborative artwork on the ground floor of the Kunsthalle.

The event is open to all age groups (children must be accompanied by an adult). Registration is not required; participants are free to come and go at any time. Participation in the art project and admission to the exhibition are free on Earth Day.

Programm im April

Am 6. April um 15 Uhr können Besuchende gemeinsam mit den Vermittler*innen die künstlerischen Interventionen im Fridericianum entdecken.

Am 18. April um 11 Uhr lädt das Fridericianum zur feierlichen Filmpremiere des Kinder- und Jugendprojekts „Smart Museum TV im Fridericianum“. In einem Ferienworkshop erkunden junge Teilnehmende das Fridericianum und seine Werke, entwickeln daraus eigene Fragestellungen und produzieren einen Film, der öffentlich präsentiert wird.

Am 23. April um 15.30 Uhr findet ein Rundgang durch die Ausstellung von Catherine Opie für blinde und sehende Menschen statt. Durch Bildbeschreibungen ausgewählter Werke wird das, was meist nur über den Sehsinn wahrgenommen werden kann, hörbar und somit auf eine andere Weise erfahrbar gemacht.

Zum Tag der Erde am 26. April präsentiert das Museum Fridericianum ein partizipatives Kunstprojekt des Künstlers Tue Greenfort, der 2012 an der documenta 13 teilgenommen hat. Auf dem Friedrichsplatz verwandeln kleine und große Menschen einen Erdhügel in Skulpturen aus je einer Handvoll Erde, die im Foyer des Fridericianum zu einem Gesamtwerk gefügt werden.

Öffentliche Führungen zu den Ausstellungen im Fridericianum finden mittwochs und sonntags statt. Die Kosten für die Führungen sind im Eintrittspreis enthalten. Die Studiowerkstatt ist für Jung und Alt ab 5 Jahren jeden Samstag von 11 bis 13 Uhr geöffnet. Kinder müssen von einem Erwachsenen begleitet werden.

April Program

On April 6 at 3 pm, visitors can explore the artistic interventions at the Fridericianum together with the art educators.

On April 18 at 11 am, the Fridericianum invites you to the festive film premiere of the children’s and youth project “Smart Museum TV at the Fridericianum.” In a summer workshop, young participants explore the Fridericianum and its artworks, develop their own questions based on what they discover, and produce a film that will be presented to the public.

On April 23 at 3.30 pm, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition by Catherine Opie for both blind and sighted people. Through audio descriptions of selected works, visitors will experience art in a different way, as what is usually perceived only through sight becomes audible.

On Earth Day, April 26, the Fridericianum will present an participatory art project by Tue Greenfort, an artist who participated in documenta 13 in 2012. At Friedrichsplatz, people of all ages will transform a mound of earth into sculptures, each made from a handful of soil, which will be assembled into a single work in the Fridericianum’s foyer.

Dem visuellen Erscheinungsbild einer documenta Ausstellung kommt eine paradoxe Aufgabe zu: Interesse, Identifikation und Wiedererkennbarkeit schaffen, ohne die Vielfalt der Kunst zu überformen. Dabei muss es sich jedes Mal neu erfinden – häufig, bevor das kuratorische Konzept feststeht. Rebecca Stephany, Künstlerin, Grafikerin und Professorin, spricht über 15 gestalterische Herangehensweisen seit 1955, die auf einer einwöchigen Recherche im documenta archiv basieren.

The visual appearance of a documenta exhibition has a paradoxical task: to generate interest, identification, and recognizability without overshadowing the diversity of art. In doing so, it must reinvent itself each time – often before the curatorial concept has been finalized. Rebecca Stephany, artist, graphic designer and professor, speaks about 15 design approaches since 1955, based on a week of research in the documenta archiv.

Am 8. März um 11 Uhr spricht Stefan Lüddemann in der Neuen Galerie über Harry Kramer.

Die Studioausstellung „Alte Heimat – Neue Heimat“ im documenta archiv eröffnet am 10. März um 11 Uhr.

Am 11. März um 17 Uhr führt das kuratorische Team des Fridericianum durch die Ausstellung von Catherine Opie.

Am 12. März um 19 Uhr eröffnet im Fridericianum die künstlerische Intervention von Raque Ford mit anschließendem Künstlerinnengespäch.

Beim Kreativworkshop am 14. März um 15 Uhr gestalten Erwachsene im Fridericianum eigene Zines zum Thema Identität.

Am 19. März um 19 Uhr spricht Renate Petzinger über „Künstlerinnen der documenta“. Anschließend diskutiert sie mit Birgitta Coers, Stefan Fricke (hr2) und Christina Kubisch (documenta 8 und 14).

Die Ausstellung „The Pause That Dreams Against Erasure“ von Catherine Opie wird am Freitag, den 13. Februar im Fridericianum um 19 Uhr eröffnet. Bereits zuvor können Kinder die Ausstellung während der Kindervernissage um 17.30 Uhr entdecken.

Am 14. Februar spricht die Künstlerin Catherine Opie mit der kuratorischen Mitarbeiterin Jasmin Meinold und gibt Einblicke in ihre künstlerische Praxis.

Eine Woche im neuen Jahr – Zeit, auf 2025 zurückzublicken.

Anlässlich des 70. Jubiläums der documenta haben wir spannende Vorträge und Gespräche gehört, inspirierende Ausstellungen und Performances erlebt und ausgelassen zusammen gefeiert. Über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus waren die documenta und das Fridericianum mit der Intervention „7000 Palmen“ von Cosima von Bonin präsent.

Mit großem Dank an alle Unterstützenden blicken wir voller Vorfreude auf die kommenden Monate, die neben weiteren Ausstellungen, Vorträgen und Veranstaltungen ganz im Zeichen der Vorbereitungen auf die documenta 16 stehen.

One week into the new year – time to look back on 2025.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of documenta, we listened to exciting lectures and discussions, saw inspiring exhibitions and performances, and celebrated together in high spirits. documenta and the Fridericianum made their presence noticed beyond the city limits with the intervention “7000 Palmen“ by Cosima von Bonin.

With great thanks to all our supporters, we look forward to the coming months, which, in addition to further exhibitions, lectures, and events, will be dominated by preparations for documenta 16.

Am 24. Januar können Teilnehmende an dem Workshop „Träume in Bewegung“ im Fridericianum kreativ werden. Anmeldung erforderlich, Materialkosten: 10 Euro.

Am 25. Januar spricht Stefan Lüddemann über die Arbeit von Harry Kramer im Fridericianum Veranstaltungssaal.

Am letzten Dienstag eines Monats (27. Januar) lädt das Fridericianum zu Kunst, Getränken und Begegnungen ein.
