Unique museums and industrial locations, exhibitions, workshops, portfolio review, conference, artist talks, container city, slideshows, projections and parties! The Triennial of Photography Hamburg originated as an initiative of the photographer and collector F. Every third year since 1999 a festival of photography has taken place in Hamburg. Meanwhile, the Triennial of Photography Hamburg has be

come an important festival of international reputation. In 2005 for instance, 83 museums, galleries, and other organizations with 114 exhibitions took part in the 3rd Triennial of Photography that was visited by 260,000 guests. Besides a great variety of exhibitions presenting the whole range of photographic techniques and styles, the festival was complemented by symposia, lectures, and conferences. The main organizer of the Triennial is Deichtorhallen.

Searching for the other. Small wonders may happen. 🦄

Presented in collaboration with us and the Tanztriennale Hamburg, Italian choreographer and performer Chiara Bersani brings “Seeking Unicorns” to the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

Created for spaces beyond the theatre, the performance invites audiences on a journey that unfolds differently with every encounter. Experimenting with new forms of love – and sometimes discovering something unexpected along the way.

Auf der Suche nach dem Anderen. Kleine Wunder sind möglich. 🦄

In Kooperation mit uns und der Tanztriennale Hamburg bringt die italienische Choreografin und Performerin Chiara Bersani “Seeking Unicorns” in die Hamburger Kunsthalle.

Für Räume jenseits des Theaters konzipiert, lädt die Performance zu einer Reise ein, die sich mit jeder Begegnung anders entfaltet. Sie erprobt neue Formen der Liebe – und entdeckt dabei manchmal etwas Unerwartetes.

Danke, Didine und Paul, dass ihr mit “The Q***r Love Cushion” einen so warmen und offenen Raum geschaffen habt.

Bei einem Festival, das sich “Alliance, Infinity, Love – in the Face of the Other widmet”, war es eine wunderbare Erinnerung daran, dass diese Ideen erst durch Begegnung, Fürsorge und gemeinsames Erleben wirklich lebendig werden.

We’ll close the Opening Days in the evening with “Sonic Bodies: The Q***r Love Cushion” at the Festival Centre.

Heute erwartet euch noch einmal ein vielfältiges Programm quer durch die 9. Triennale der Photographie Hamburg 2026: mit Führungen durch die Ausstellungen, Workshops für Groß und Klein, (Artist) Talks und gemeinsame Rundgänge durch die Stadt – darunter die Eröffnung der Tanztriennale ab 14 Uhr.

We’re heading into the penultimate day of the Opening Days! ✨

Many Triennale Expanded exhibitions are only open until Sunday. Take the opportunity to discover projects by Hamburg’s independent photography scene – accompanied by tours, workshops, artist talks, performances and shared walks across the city.

Today’s programme includes “To Share: Thoughts, Ideas & Food”, “Questioning Normalcy”, and much more.

In the evening, we’ll gather again at the Festival Centre for “Sonic Bodies: dispari”. 🎶

They explore questions of migration, community, memory and labour, offering perspectives that expand the festival in diverse and thought-provoking ways.

Almost the weekend! 🌴

Today, the German Photographic Council (Deutscher Fotorat) brings current debates in photography to the Festival Centre – from AI in photojournalism to the future of visual literacy.

Later in the evening, you’ll have the chance to join Mark Sealy, Cale Garrido and Bettina Freimann for a drink and an informal conversation.

If you’d like to dive deeper into the exhibitions, guided tours are taking place at MARKK and Kunsthaus Hamburg.

To round off the day, wenner pennt takes over Sonic Bodies with a dreamy mix of yacht rock, vaporwave and bittersweet nostalgia.

Fast schon Wochenende! 🌴

Heute diskutiert der Deutsche Fotorat im Festivalzentrum über aktuelle Fragen der Fotografie – von KI im Fotojournalismus bis zur Zukunft der Bildkompetenz. Später gibt es die Gelegenheit, bei einem Drink mit Mark Sealy, Cale Garrido und Bettina Freimann ins Gespräch zu kommen.

Wer tiefer in die Ausstellungen eintauchen möchte, kann an Führungen im MARKK und im Kunsthaus Hamburg teilnehmen.

Für den musikalischen Abschluss sorgt wenner pennt mit einem verträumten Mix aus Yacht Rock, Vaporwave und melancholischer Lounge-Atmosphäre.
