It's time to join us in our virtual festival playground in TOPIA to celebrate the start of this year's PLAY festival.
We start the festival with greetings from the organizers, introduction of the festival partners and an impulse from Daniel Budiman (@budiboo) from Rocket Beans TV.
PLAY festival director Christiane Schwinge (@christiane_schwinge) and Andreas Hedrich (@andreashedrich) will give insights into the festival program, accompanied by live broadcasts to PLAY people worldwide.
This will be followed by the vernissage of the PLAY exhibition in PLAYvalley, the virtual festival location, guided by curator Matthias Löwe (@sp4c31nv4d3r).

„Restart Together!“ is the motto of this year's PLAY - Creative Gaming Festival, which will take place from November 5–13, 2021: online and on site in Hamburg.
This year‘s edition focuses on the past and the future, on isolation and communalization, on closeness and distance. PLAY21 deals with the role of games in the (post-)pandemic society and with the questions of how games bring us together in a global crisis situation, give hope, become alternative places of encounter, and how game culture will change after and through Corona.
In workshops, exhibitions, shows, roundtables and talks, this year‘s program includes a whole nine days of participating, discussing, programming, discovering and playing. The audience can decide how to visit the festival: via stream, via the virtual festival location or physically live on site.

Spielen und zusammen sein: Die PLAY21 zum Thema "Restart Together!" findet vom 05. bis 13. November online und live vor Ort in Hamburg statt. Neun Tage lang können Festivalbesucher in verschiedenen Programmformaten Spiele entdecken, darüber diskutieren und Gameentwickler aus der ganzen Welt kennenlernen.
Im Format Snacktime erfahrt Ihr in 30 Minuten, wie Game-Streaming bei Twitch funktioniert, man bei Battlefield als Pazifist überlebt oder einen RolePlay-Server betreibt. Bei der PLAY Couch wird über die Rolle von Spielfiguren als Begleiter in Zeiten der Pandemie diskutiert. Angeboten werden auch in diesem Jahr Workshops rund um kreatives Computerspielen & Game Design und das Machinima-Cinema zeigt Filme, erstellt in und aus unterschiedlichen Spielen.

Das Gamescamp ist zurück! Nach dem letzten Gamescamp 2017 in Dresden geht es nun endlich weiter, zunächst mit Online-Gamescamps und ab 2022 mit Präsenz-Gamescamps. Mit diesen Formaten laden wir wieder herzlich zum ultimativen Bildungsurlaub für Gamer*innen, selbstverständlich wie immer als Barcamp.
Den Starter machen wir mit der Vernetzung über Discord, sowie einem Ausflug zur Europe Code Week 24.10.2021 / 14–18 Uhr sowie zum PLAY - Creative Gaming Festival am 06.11.2021 / 16–19 Uhr, open end und immer kostenlos.
Das Gamescamp ist für dich spannend, wenn du dich gern intensiver mit Spielen auseinandersetzt und zwischen 14 und 21 Jahre alt bist. Thematisch landen wir oft bei moralischen Entscheidungen in Games, Geschlechterrollen, Freiheiten in der Handlung, VR und die Zukunft, Cosplay, Speedruns, Pen&Paper, Escape Rooms, Spielmusik, Zensur, eSport, Let’s Plays oder Indie Games oder auch programmieren, Stories schreiben, Grafiken zeichnen oder Gaming-Musik.

Heute in einem Monat startet das PLAY - Creative Gaming Festival online und in Hamburg. Unter dem Motto RESTART TOGETHER! beschäftigt sich das Festival dieses Jahr mit der Rolle von Games in der (post-)pandemischen Gesellschaft und mit der Frage, wie Spiele zu alternativen Orten der Begegnung werden. 🎮💞👥
