shikra offers a wide selection of carefully selected traditional and contemporary art from every region of Africa. The online-gallery offers over one thousand pieces of African art as well as rare and difficult to find African art books. shikra owner Eric Makin has visited approximately 30 African countries in over 25 years of travelling, several of which he has visited numerous times. Works from

many of Africa’s leading contemporary artists including Twins Seven Seven, George Lilanga and Romuald Hazoumé are represented, as well as traditional masks and figures, some of which date back to the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

Antique teardrop-shaped glass beads from Bohemia (Gablonz/Jablonec), traded to West Africa between approximately 1920 and 1960.
Highly prized by the Fulbe people, and known as "Fulani Wedding Beads."

For sale - Pot - Kuba - DR Congo - Euro 300,-

Collected in 1959 in the former Belgium Congo. The rare shaped pot has a handle with rattan wrapped around it to attach the pot to a wall. The inside of the pot is covered in dry camwood powder.
There are cracks in the bottom of the pot.
