| JOIN US! EXHIBITION VISIT AT ARTNOW GALLERY HAMBURG

This time we're taking you to 's Hamburg space for Memories of Summer, a group exhibition featuring eleven artists: Chika Aruga, Ina Carla Cierniak, Irena Egelkraut, Isa Johannsen, Kim Kluge, Anja Mamero, Julia Oleinicenko, Lena Räbiger, Lumturije Schmidhuber, Dagmara Szmal and Peter Wycisk.

Not Your Typical Summer
Summer is a season full of experiences, discoveries and magical moments — long days and bright nights, distant places and new encounters that pull us out of routine, let us dream, and sometimes bring the world around us to a standstill for a fleeting eternity. What stays behind are impressions that linger, the material for stories and lasting memories. The eleven artists in this exhibition capture that material and translate it into colour, form, texture and touch through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and textile work. These aren't holiday postcards of palm trees, beach and sea — the works play with association and leave room for interpretation, activating our own image-memory instead: what you see is your own summer, decoded through your own gaze.

📆 On view until October 31, 2026
📍 Lehmweg 53, 20251 Hamburg

We're already looking forward to welcoming artnow Gallery back at Affordable Art Fair Hamburg, November 5–8, Stand F2.

What does your own summer look like once these works start speaking? Step inside and find out.🔎

| A LOOK INSIDE LAST NIGHT’S OPENING AT THE SPACE //

Some insights from the opening yesterday: we joined THE SPACE // for the vernissage of Art in Transit – The Experience of Elsewhere.

The Experience of Elsewhere
The exhibition brings together works by nine international contemporary artists. Inspired by John Dewey’s Art as Experience, it foregrounds the lived encounter with art as a transformative practice — one that extends beyond representation and reorients our way of being in the world. Unfolding at the intersection of experience, exile, relation, ecology and the archive, it becomes a space of encounter in which memory is activated, relation and belonging are continuously renegotiated, and imagination opens up new ways of understanding, new modes of being in the world, and the possibility of imagining alternative futures.

📍 THE SPACE //, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 14, 20355 Hamburg

Save the date: the exhibition is part of the inaugural Hamburg Art Week: Crossing Currents (Sept 3–6), with a full program of talks, performance and music at THE SPACE // throughout the week.

| WHY WE NEED ART AT HOME
rieck knows exactly why art belongs in our homes — not as decoration, but as something we live with, day after day. Walk into a room, and you can feel almost instantly whether art lives there too.

Specialising in Scandinavian art of the past century, Galerie RIECK explores this in their own column "Leben mit Kunst" — from where a piece should hang to what art really does to a space, and to us. Their gallery on the Carlshöhe in Eckernförde shows it in practice: light-filled rooms, bold paintings and sculptures that turn a house into a home.

Featured artists:
Elke Hergert
Siri Gindesgaard

Ken Denning

| JOIN US! EXHIBITION VISIT AT HAMBURGER KUNSTHALLE

This time we’re taking you inside Hamburger Kunsthalle for a rare pairing: Maria Lassnig und Edvard Munch – Malfluss = Lebensfluss, the first exhibition ever to show these two artists side by side, curated by Dr. Brigitte Kölle, Prof. Dr. Hans Dieter Huber and Dr. Sandra Gianfreda.

The exhibition is called Malfluss = Lebensfluss („the flow of painting = the flow of life“), a title borrowed from one of Lassnig’s own paintings. More than half a century separates the Austrian painter (1919–2014) from the Norwegian icon (1863–1944), yet across over 180 works — from major masterpieces to rarely shown paintings, drawings, film and even a sculpture — striking parallels emerge. Both used colour to express inner states like grief, love, loneliness and joy, turning painting itself into a way of understanding themselves.

⏳ There’s not much time left, so make sure to check it out — on view until August 30, 2026.
