Once a tree…

Now home to a Begonia.

I was immediately drawn to these handmade TAN KEI pieces from . Made in Japan from carbonized wood, each one is completely unique and feels more like a piece of natural art than a traditional planter.

I planted this one with a Begonia and some moss, giving it a new life as a living sculpture.

No two pieces are ever the same, which is probably what I love most about them.

We moved our Birdfy Feeder to my dad’s place in the countryside to see who would show up… 🐦

At first, the usual visitors arrived. Then more and more appeared.

Over the next few days we spotted Blue T**s, Great T**s, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Magpies, and finally even a European Red Squirrel. 🐿️

It’s fascinating how much wildlife is around us when we take the time to notice it.

Every corner of our home has its own mood. 💡

Our little oasis 🌿

We recently added a few new plants to our balcony pond, making it feel even more natural and full of life. The medaka have now moved in for the summer months and seem to be settling in beautifully among all the fresh growth.

A big thank you to .nl and for providing many of the beautiful pond plants for this little project. 💚

A tiny slice of the ocean, hidden inside our living room. 🌊🩷

What started as a small box, has slowly grown into a thriving ecosystem filled with corals, fish, snails, crabs and countless tiny organisms, all interacting in ways that never stop fascinating us.

The pink cabinet is the Container DS by , one of our favourite design pieces in our home and the perfect place for this little reef.

All of the corals in this tank were grown by , and the entire reef is illuminated by the Skylight Hyperbar R from , bringing out all the incredible colours and fluorescence.

It’s amazing how much life can exist in such a small space.

Last weekend we escaped the city for a day and spent some time surrounded by nature. 🌿

We slowed down in my dad’s garden, visited his little cabin in the countryside, met a few friendly locals, enjoyed a bonfire, and simply took the time to do... nothing.

Days like these always remind us how important it is to slow down every once in a while.

Maybe that’s why we enjoy coming here so much. 💚

Our future home for Ranitomeya dart frogs 🐸🌿

The terrarium has grown in beautifully over the last few weeks, and since installing the misting system, the plants have been thriving more than ever. There’s still plenty to do — the upper section needs a few more plants, some additional moss, and lots of time to mature naturally.

But that’s honestly the most enjoyable part: watching a tiny ecosystem slowly come to life.

Next step: adding the microfauna 🐜

A huge thank you to for many of the plants, for the beautiful miniature orchids, and for the lighting that helps bring it all together. ✨
