The English Drama Workshop

The English Drama Workshop The English Drama Workshop at the University Göttingen has a long-standing tradition of staging plays in English. If you're interested, don't be shy!

We hope that former and current members, as well as fans will continue to like and support the EDW in future years. The English Drama Workshop Göttingen has been staging plays for more than 40 years. We are an amateur company open to everyone from in- and outside the university, who is interested in playing in or helping with the production of an English-speaking drama. Currently based under the p

atronage of the "Zentrum zum Erwerb von Sprachen und Schlüssequalifikationen ZESS", we put one play a year on the stage of the Theater im OP, usually in spring. Most of us are neither professionals nor native speakers. We are proud to be Northern Germany's longest playing regularly English-speaking theatre company.

We're more than happy to get another stellar review:

So it's confirmed by the press, you shouldn't miss our wonderful production "Torch Song." We still have tickets left, so make sure to grab yours.

"[E]ine fulminante Mischung", "[Arnold] brillant verkörpert von René Anders", "beeindruckende Bandbreite" and "Aktualität des Stoffes hat in 30 Jahren nicht gelitten" are just some snippets of the wonderful things Sophie-Marie Ahnefeld said in her review of "Torch Song" for the Göttinger Tageblatt.

We have eight performances left, so you still have the chance to see the trials and tribulations of Arnold Beckoff.

Carla Schliewe visited our opening night for the StadtRadio Göttingen and really liked the text, performance and staging, highlighting in her review that the play is still as relevant today as it was when it was written.

Here's the translation of the quote in the picture: "The highlight of the play is […] firstly the text and secondly the actors. […] The sparkling performance was made so vivid by the actors' performances and the way they delivered their dialogues."
