Der frühe Vogel fängt im Sturm die Herzen. Eine Woche vor dem Start einer brandneuen Eventreihe des Plattenlabels Legal Black in Berlin dürfen wir im Palais schon eine Art Vorpremiere aufführen. Die Hauptdarsteller unter unseren Spotlights sind am 11.11. die beiden Hauptstädter Tom Nowa und Matthias Anim. Letzterer gründete mit Freunden die Plattform Legal Black in der Corona-Zeit. Nach einigen veröffentlichten EPs steht Ende des Jahres der erste Sampler in den Startlöchern. Matthias Anim kennen viele auch als Teil des Duos Wonkers, das sogar schon beim Coachella-Festival in den USA nach Höherem strebte. Sein Kompagnon Max befindet sich gerade in Elternzeit, daher begnügen wir uns im Palais Club mit einem Solo-Set. Allein ganz fein fühlt sich wiederum Tom Nowa, der schon öfter feine Klangkost bei uns serviert hat und gern mit einer abwechslungsreichen, groovenden Mischung aus Tech-House, Techno und House die tanzende Meute fesselt.
Zur Unterstützung der beiden Berliner holen wir noch Tobias Christian an die Decks. Er ist fester Bestandteil der Starkstrom-Amper-Festivals, wo er regelmäßig sein Talent unter Beweis stellt. 2022 spielte er auch das schon legendär gewordene Closing auf dem Electric Summer in Mammendorf. Am liebsten ist er mit pumpenden und treibenden Techno-Beats unterwegs, aber seine druckvollen Sets können auch mal deeper und melodiöser sein, wenn es die Umstände erfordern.

Polytoxikomanie :
Wer diesen zungenakrobatischen Begriff hört oder sogar versucht ihn auszusprechen, wird natürlich als nächstes nach dessen Definition suchen. Wer fündig wird, mag so seine Schlüsse ziehen, jedoch ist, wie in dem Fall des, seit 2014 als DJ und Producer tätigen, Berliners die mischkonsumartige Verwendung von multiplen musikalischen Genres als zutreffende Bedeutung anzusehen. Resultierend daraus ist ein Sound, der durchs Raster fällt, dessen hauptsächliche Bestandteile ein Mix aus Deep Tech, Bass House, melodischen Techhouse, G-House und Mädchen-Techno bilden. Ab und an passiert es sogar, dass Elemente des Pop mit einfließen.
Seine ersten Auftritte genoss Polytoxikomanie im M.I.K.Z. oder auch im Sisyphos. Schnell bespielte er (fast) alle bekannten und minder bekannten Dancefloors der (Techno-)Hauptstadt. Es folgten verschiedene Gigs in diversen Städten in Deutschland, Schweiz und Russland sowie unvergessliche Stunden auf dem Feel Festival und dem Melt Festival.
Das Produzieren begann Polytoxikomanie noch bevor er das DJing für sich entdeckte. Bevor er in diversen House-Genres sein Zuhouse fand, versuchte er sich an Dubstep und Psytrance. Einzelne Bestandteile dieser Musikarten erkennt man auch in aktuellen Produktionen des Mischkonsumenten. Einige Tricks und Kniffe durfte er sich dabei von Joseph Disco abschauen.

Timo Veranta is am emerging music producer and DJ originating from Moscow, Russia. Timo Veranta started his musical journey at a young age playing piano, as his mother was a music professor. The now Berlin-based artist started his music career with a band, Madison Affair (2006-2014). In 2012, Veranta took his first steps into the electronic music scene. In 2014 he started producing music inspired by the sounds of tech house and melodic techno. Timo Veranta has seen releases with labels such as EIN2, Stickrecordings, ERYN, Syncforward, Frequenza, and lauter Unfug. His unique style features nostalgic elements, groovy basslines, dark atmospheres, and an overall organic sound. Timo produces with analog synthesizers, making every release unique and organic. Through releases such as ‘Feierabend’, ‘Jupiter’, ‘Breakfast Club’, and many more, Timo Veranta is setting his footprint in the music scene.

Henheimer is a producer and DJ based in Berlin whose musical roots reach back deep into the clubbing scene of the city. Being introduced already at a young age to electronic music, he started his own collection of vinyls and eventually absorbed the unique spirit of Berlin’s infamous techno clubs such as Wilde Renate, Sisyphos and Berghain where he worked in his 20s. From the thriving and unforgettable electronic music scene of Berlin and through his own musical intuition, Henheimer developed a hypnotic and dark style of DJing. Since 2016, he has been consistently releasing tracks in an artist duo together with his friend Timo Veranta. He also runs the podcast series ‘Ich Hab Bock’ on Getting Deeper featuring well known techno producers and DJs from all over the world.

Mirco Niemeier:
The Artist and Producer Mirco Niemeier is a true Berliner of the old scene of his city. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he had the chance to live the open minded music revolution of these golden times and so he savored to the fullest. At this time he was inspired by synthesizer sounds of the 80´s & 90´s, which smooth the way forwards electronic music.

“Groove, melody, fat basslines, atmospherically sounds and unexpected stories” from house to techno: this is how we could sum-up the musical style of Mirco, influenced by a wide selection of producers and labels, including Âme, Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Robosonic, DJ Koze and labels like Poker Flat, Sonar Kollektiv, Perlon, Noir and Suara, among others. With accurate mixes, full of power and good vibes, his sessions will lead you to dance till the end!

Mirco has already released a whole bunch of ep´s and remixes for Metanoia, Circle Music, Whatiplay, Sunset Ha***ob, Off Recordings, Kindisch and more. He recently launched a brand new side project in collaboration with his fellow partner Beatamines, producing together under the moniker of Ektschn!, with two vinyl ep´s, signed on Super Flu’s label Sunset Ha***ob. So we can look forward to new projects and stuff, because boredom is a loanword for Mirco!

The word crow in Hebrew (עורב, Orev) means guardian which refer to the mutual responsibility that crows share among each other.

Modest Crow is Asaf Herrmann, was born in Haifa, Israel. After
years of living in a Commune, he was reminded of the symbiotic
relationship that different mammals and birds share, like a
flock of crows. Ever since then the crow has been his source of
inspiration. At the age of 22, after being for the first time in
a proper Techno party in Tel Aviv, Modest Crow felt something
amazing. The experience left a strong impact on him, curiosity
to produce electronic music. Tel Aviv looked like the answer
but, it was only a temporary stop before landing in Berlin, The
Mecca of Techno.

Since then, Modest Crow played in Sisyphos,
Ritter Butzke, Kitkat and About Blank, releases
on Stil Vor Talent, Traum Schallplatten, Dear
Deer Records, Ballroom Records, Motek, Aftertech
Records and more.
All the while being part of Section8Berlin Crew
and DCMB collective. You will find Modest Crow’s
music Deep and Bassy with fresh melodies that
provide a story, a vivid portrait into an
electronic soundscape. Some would say “Deep
melodic Techno” but many other elements from
other genres are happily thrown to this musical
mosaic.
