Beim Erforschen der Möglichkeiten von Materialien hat sie entdeckt, dass Schaumstoff einem mit seinem Quietschen Schauer über den Rücken jagen kann, während Folie angenehm knistern kann. Die Empfindung von Materialien wird lebendig, wenn sie in Bewegung gesetzt werden.
Um ihren Skulpturen Leben einzuhauchen, verwendet Leslie einfache mechanische Antriebe. Ihre Kreationen können flattern, schwanken, schaukeln, zittern, rascheln, klatschen oder summen. Indem sie mit den Materialien in einen Dialog tritt, konstruiert sie sinnliche Bilder, die den Betrachter herausfordern und überraschen. To breathe life into her sculptures, Leslie utilizes simple mechanical drives. Her creations can flutter, sway, rock, tremble, rustle, clap, or hum. Engaging in a dialogue with the materials, she constructs sensorial images that challenge and surprise viewers.
