FEST is the largest and oldest English language amateur theatre group in the Rhein-Main area.

FEST, the Frankfurt English Speaking Theatre e.V., is the oldest and biggest English-language amateur theatre group in the Frankfurt/Rhein-Main region. Founded by a group of British expats in 1977, FEST has since staged productions of every kind – drama, comedy, mystery, musical, cabaret, and – last but definitely not least – that magical box of Christmas fun, the British pantomime.

Wondering what to do with yourself during these long summer days? ☀️ How about brushing up on your acting and/or directing skills?

We have two workshops happening in July and August and we’d love to see you there!

First up is our Directing Workshop, led by Jim Phetterplace, Jr. and taking place over 4 Saturdays from July 18 to August 8. Whether you’re developing your first production or looking to deepen your artistic vision, a workshop with an experienced directing coach can help you strengthen your storytelling, work more effectively with actors, and bring your creative ideas to life with greater confidence and impact.

Following shortly thereafter is another session of our well-loved Acting Fundamentals course by Jeff Book. This two-day course is designed to introduce participants to the basic skills and techniques needed to take on a role, develop the character, and properly prepare for performances.

These two masters of the stage will help you build the fundamentals of acting or directing 🎭

What a run this have been?!

🎊 Full houses for the last weekend of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). We couldn't be more grateful for our cast and crew, and of course, the audiences whose loud laughs made this show even better. 🙏

‼️ AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️

We are pleased to announce auditions for our fourth and final production of the year: “A Christmas Carol”
written by Charles Dickens, adapted for the stage by Brian Kurtas & Bill van Horn.

This beloved British classic follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly and cold-hearted man who despises Christmas. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, who reveal to him the impact of his actions and the fate that awaits if he does not change. Through these supernatural encounters, Scrooge undergoes a profound transformation, embracing generosity and compassion, and ultimately learns the true meaning of Christmas.

👥 Cast:
Most actors will be required to play 2-3 different roles. There are also a number of “child” roles that may be played either by teen actors or young adults.

✨Casting Call✨
It’s official: our September production is coming! We will be staging Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” and are excited to see both old and new faces at our upcoming auditions. More info below ⬇️

* Saturday, May 16 09:30-12:30 at Saalbau Gallus
* Tuesday, May 19 from 18:30-21:00 at an office in Westend
* Thursday, May 21 from 18:00-21:30 at Saalbau Gallus (Callbacks only)

TUG is over, Shakespeare Abridged is well underway with rehearsals, but we still have two more production slots to fill for our 2026 season 😱 We are currently taking submissions for our September and November shows. If you have even the smallest inkling of an idea, we would love to hear from you!

The September show will run for two weekends, the 18-20th and the 25-27th of September. The November show will run three weekends, including the 20th-22nd and 27th-29th of November and 4-6th of December.
