In her newest body of work, examines migration as both a biological phenomenon and a metaphor for interconnected existence. The exhibition Magnetite focuses on the hidden geometries that guide birds during their annual journeys, referencing magnetic minerals, neural sensitivities, and collective flight behaviour. The exhibition’s globe works become spaces where ecology, abstraction, and speculative cartography intersect, encouraging a reconsideration of borders, orientation, and coexistence within a shared planetary system.

Currently on view at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art until 20 June 2026.

The solo exhibition "Magnetite" by reflects on the birds’ capacity to sense what remains invisible to the human eye. Through references to magnetic fields, natural minerals, and collective flight, the exhibition opens a precise inquiry into orientation, environment, and shared spatial knowledge.

On view until 20 June 2026 at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art.

Between science and speculation, "Magnetite" explores orientation, ecology, and interdependence. In her second solo exhibition at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art, draws on bird migration, magnetic fields, and hidden systems of navigation to create a visual language where biology and abstraction converge.

The work "Otherworldly, dancing somewhere above the digital sublime" references meteorites from Christie’s Deep Impact sale (2021), including some of the oldest known material in the solar system. Many meteorites contain magnetite, a naturally magnetic mineral that links celestial matter to the exhibition’s exploration of invisible forces and planetary connections.

Davar’s solo show remains on view until 20 June 2026. We look forward to welcoming you at the gallery.

A monograph on the work of Dutch painter (b. 1970), spanning more than three decades of practice (1994-2025). The publication traces the ongoing tension in his work between experimentation and a striking sense of consistency, bringing together early works and his more recent series-based approach.

Structured as a visual essay, „Monolith“ offers a non-linear reading of Zandvliet’s oeuvre, accompanied by contributions that explore his evolving investigations into landscape, colour, gesture, and perception. Designed as a tactile, sculptural object, the publication is conceived not as a summary, but as a work in its own right.

„Monolith“, published by , features contributions by Jan Bor, Esther Darley, Elaine Equi, Andreas Fiedler, Gudrun Knaus, and Robert Zandvliet. The publication also accompanies Robert Zandvliet’s current exhibitions at and .

With the exhibition "Magnetite", continues her exploration of hidden structures that organise human and non-human life. Focusing on migratory birds and their sensitivity to the Earth’s magnetic field, the exhibition brings together scientific inquiry and visual poetics. Botanical imagery, globe forms, and references to ecological habitats unfold into intricate compositions that speak to movement, resilience, and interdependence. Davar’s work ultimately points towards more fluid ways of imagining connection in a world shaped by constant transition.

The exhibition will remain on view until 20 June 2026.

As Venice once again becomes the centre of the international art world during the Biennale, we are pleased to highlight the presentation of British artist Mark Francis, who represents the Republic of San Marino in this year’s edition.

Over the course of several decades, Francis has established a distinctive painterly practice situated at the intersection of abstraction, science and perception. His works investigate invisible structures and systems — from cellular formations and neural networks to cosmic and technological phenomena — translating them into complex visual fields of remarkable depth and intensity.

The exhibition „Sea of Sound“ offers a compelling insight into an oeuvre that continuously explores the boundaries between the organic and the constructed, the microscopic and the universal. Within the wider context of the Biennale, the presentation stands out for its contemplative and rigorously painterly approach, inviting viewers into immersive spaces shaped by rhythm, energy and light.

We warmly invite visitors to the Biennale in Venice to discover the Pavilion of the Republic of San Marino and experience Mark Francis’ outstanding exhibition.
You’ll find the exhibition at Tana Art Space (Fondamenta de la Tana No. 2111)

Invisible forces become visible worlds in the exhibition „Magnetite“ by . The exhibition examines how migratory birds navigate through magnetic sensitivity and collective movement, translating scientific phenomena into layered visual narratives. Davar’s globe works depict wetlands and migratory corridors as living networks of exchange and survival. Her practice considers how ecological systems operate through cooperation and responsiveness, offering an alternative model to rigid political and territorial structures.

We invite you to visit the exhibition at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art until 20 June 2026.

In her work, explores the complex relationship between humanity, nature, and technology. Created in 2025, "A Spin Around the Sun" depicts two different bird species derived from a sixteenth-century tapestry. Davar’s interest lies particularly in those avian motifs that reflect human status, trade, and access to the wider world.

With the expansion of global exploration and colonial trade networks, tapestries increasingly began to incorporate representations of exotic bird species newly encountered through these systems of exchange. Davar’s practice is consistently grounded in extensive research, inviting viewers to uncover multiple layers of historical, scientific, and visual reference embedded within her drawings.

The current solo exhibition Magnetite by Katja Davar remains on view at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art through June 20.

It’s been a week since the opening of our current exhibition — a perfect opportunity to briefly introduce the theme underlying the show.

“Magnetite” by explores the invisible systems that orient migratory birds across vast geographies. Through newly developed globe works, the exhibition traces migratory flyways, wetlands, and ecological resting points that sustain life in motion. Drawing on scientific research into magnetite, cryptochromes, and magnetic perception, Davar transforms unseen forces into poetic visual structures. Her works propose navigation not as a fixed route, but as a responsive and interconnected process shaped by sensitivity, adaptation, and collective intelligence.

On view at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art until 20 June 2026.
