christophegregorio.art

christophegregorio.art Passionate about complex objects and their mechanics, Christophe is a jack-of-all-trades, creative and innovative.

At the end of his studies, he naturally turned to the Arts and Design where he developed his creativity and his skills in drawing techniques, design, applied arts and R&D. In 2012, he creates his own workshop and, until today, he works there with several international artists (choreographers, photographers, sculptors, directors, plastic artists…), to whom he offers his expertise and technical skil

ls. In 2014, he is recruited by Le Fresnoy (Studio National des Arts Contemporains) where he worked until 2019 in close collaboration with artists from the early stages of their projects and created the Installation Center and a Workshop-Laboratory (inspired in the FabLab concept). In 2020, he creates with the « Largo Space project » team a new Workshop-Laboratory in Peniche, Portugal to promote art & culture where he works in new artistic projects. With much energy and inspiration, Christophe is central to the conception, development and ex*****on of many innovative projects and a force to be reckoned with. Team :

Quem quer ajudar a organizar?

𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐩! 🙌

Our last meetup was the first with a new host - Christophe - and the first in continuation mode - Makers Meetup #6/2!
In the meantime, we've launched a campaign to raise funds and keep this impossible space that is Largo [More info here: https://largospace.com/impossible-spacel] and we also launched an event with the Largo friends QuintÆssência and Infinite roll [More info here: https://fb.me/e/]

📣 Now the space is open: Are you the next host for the next Makers Meetup, a space to share the pains and joys of those trying to make?

If one maker makes a lot,
Two makers make, make a lot more.
If two makers make a lot,
Three makers make, make a lot more…

The themes of past editions were:

Makers Meetup #3 with Pedro
Funding — Why can funding be a good alternative? What types of funding exist?
Where can we find them? How can we collaborate to secure sustainable funding?

Makers Meetup #4 with Pedro
Relationships and Making — “How to build a sense of belonging and wellbeing in groups, teams, and organizations. In a society obsessed with performance and productivity, we tend to organize groups around goals and control. But we all know by now that this isn’t sustainable—and often leads to unfair ways of working together. “

Makers Meetup #5 with Pedro
Persistence — “What keeps us going when everything tells us to stop?
What skills and strategies help us not give up and look to the future with optimism?
Let’s share stories and practices that support more long-term keepgoings and fewer short-lived startups.”

Makers Meetup #6 with christophegregorio.art
Impositions — ”How and why what is imposed on us — directly or indirectly — influences our choices. (...) In this session, I’m not inviting you to find the right answers, but to open spaces where our imagination can breathe again.”

Let's do it? Who would like to try it? Who wants to help organize?

Cinzia Campolese [Cinzia Campolese Studio] | Set - Rise - Sun
Installation | 2023

C.G. : Production oversight and construction

Set-Rise-Sun is a mixed-media installation that explores the interplay between technology, time and the environment.
The piece is made of a modified Lcd screen perpendicular to a water surface, through which viewers can observe an evolving virtual Sun that progresses from the top to the bottom of the screen. To the naked eye, the screen emits only white light. As the polarized film on the Lcd has been removed, the content is only visible through the reflection on the water that acts as a natural polarizing filter due to Brewster’s angle phenomenon.
The prevailing western cultural norms have often viewed time as a resource to be won and defended, marked by a linear progression, a craving for rapid results, and a feeling of haste.
Such an endeavor to dominate time has historically been an example of how humans have attempted to exert their control over nature and over them.
The work prompts the observer to contemplate the intricacies of our present situation, grappling with the socio-environmental challenges we confront. It encourages us to ponder the ramifications of our increased reliance on technology and the possible outcomes that may arise from distancing ourselves from the natural world.
