Tonight: join us in person starting at 7pm for a screening of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦: 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘦, an experimental documentary short film featuring three generations of Azerbaijani artists. Doors open at 7pm for refreshments and viewing of works by Leyla Rzayeva, followed by an artist talk with Asli Samadova and the film screening⁠.⁠

Leyla Rzayeva is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Leyla earned her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art and a Professional Printer Certificate from Tamarind Institute, University of New Mexico. She is a current Artist-in-Residence at Kala Art Institute.⁠

By manipulating textiles, paint, ceramics and printmaking, Leyla presents the principal themes of communication, memory, family and movement to critique her relationship with colonialism and constructed self narrative. Her research and practice bring the personal knowledge of contemporary culture of West Asia and Central Asia to uncover the stories that have shaped her family and transnational history.⁠

The documentary was produced by Ta(r)dino 6 Art Platform], a Baku-born self-organized art initiative with international outreach. The platform fills in the niche in providing art professionals from EECCA (Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia) region and beyond with the opportunity to explore their ideas in depth. Programs to date include exhibitions, commissioned site-specific artworks, artist talks and workshops by artists and curators to help grow South Caucasus’ emerging art community. Ta(r)dino 6 supports the discourse on contemporary art within international context, with a special focus on gender, identity and equality in the art world.⁠

🇬🇧 We are happy to announce that from August 9 to September 5, 2022 Ta(r)dino 6 team is hosted by PACT Zollverein residency in Essen, Germany. The proposal was selected among 600 applications and will allow them to concentrate on ongoing projects and plans as well as develop professional contacts in Germany.

Təklif 600 müraciət arasından seçilib və davam edən layihələr və planlar üzərində cəmləşməyə, eləcə də Almaniyada peşəkar əlaqələri inkişaf etdirməyə imkan verəcək.

Finally my copy of this book arrived (of course with edition #57 😎). Interesting fact: the citizens of Tokyo had an opportunity to see this beautiful artwork before me. This is because the book featured at Tokyo Art Book Fair in 2021.

Why this title?
Unbrushed Senses are the ones that are not stigmatized or stereotyped, being born in their unblended colors. This collection of poems and drawings illustrate the raw and untamed feelings that are left unsorted.

How was it born?
Initially presented as an online exhibition for Ta(r)dino 6 Art Platform, Unbrushed Senses is the second collaboration between poet Leyli Salayeva, artist Xenia Fink, and curator Asli Samadova. As our hunger for touch increased due to social distancing, this project transitioned from a digital and ephemeral form into a physical realm.
