Your acoustic guitar sounding thin and scratchy usually comes down to one thing, you're using the DI output.

That piezo pickup under the saddle picks up string noise and finger squeaks way more than the actual body of the guitar. It's convenient, but it's not really capturing the instrument.

Micing it up changes everything. A mic captures the full resonance of the body, the warmth, the depth, all the stuff the DI just skips over completely.

Point one mic near the 12th fret and you'll immediately hear a fuller, rounder tone :)

It’s easy to forget that both reactions are happening constantly, to every artist, at every level, at the exact same time. You just don’t see all of it at once.

Feedback says more about the listener than the song. Someone’s taste, mood, and expectations shape their reaction way more than your mix or your songwriting actually does.
Chasing universal approval means chasing nothing specific at all. The songs that connect hardest usually alienate someone else in the process, that’s not a flaw, that’s just what a strong point of view does.
The people who’ll actually support you long term aren’t the loudest critics. They’re usually quiet, consistent, and easy to overlook while you’re busy reacting to one harsh comment.
Your growth doesn’t pause for anyone’s opinion. Keep improving whether someone calls it amateur or calls it their favorite, the work itself doesn’t change based on either.
Nobody remembers the criticism a year later, including you. What sticks around is whether you kept making things or let one comment talk you out of it.

Make the song you’d want to hear. Someone out there is already waiting for exactly that :)

And somehow you’d still rather be doing this than almost anything else.

That’s the part nobody warns you about when you start making music. It was never really about the numbers, even though it’s easy to convince yourself it is somewhere around release day.

The streams were never the reward. The two hours you just spent chasing one transition that finally clicked, that’s the actual reward. The numbers are just a footnote after the fact.
Hate comments mean someone actually felt something. Indifference doesn’t comment. If a song is boring enough, nobody bothers reacting to it at all.
Unfollows are just audience filtering, not failure. Not everyone following you was ever going to be the right listener for what you’re making anyway.
Consistency beats a single result every time. One song with 9 streams means nothing on its own. Fifty songs made with that same obsession add up to something completely different.
If you’d still make it with zero listeners, that’s the actual sign you’re doing this for the right reason.

Keep making the song nobody asked for yet. That’s usually the one that ends up mattering :)

Being stuck isn’t a mystery. It’s just a menu of options you haven’t tried yet.

Every one of these is a decision you can make in under 30 seconds. Here’s why they actually work.

8 bars stuck? Change the drums. The loop isn’t boring, the pocket is. Swap the drums under the same melody and suddenly there’s somewhere new to go.
No ideas? Flip an old one. Your hard drive isn’t a graveyard if you actually go back in there. You’re a better producer now than you were on that old session, prove it.
Song feels flat? Mute the loudest thing. Beginners add, pros delete. Nine times out of ten the thing crowding your track is the thing you’re proudest of.
Stuck? Change the tempo. Move it 8 BPM in either direction. A ballad idea at 70 might be a completely different song at 90.
Burnt out? Listen, don’t make. Your ear is the instrument too. Some days the work is input, not output.
Mix sounds off? Get a reference. You’ve been in the same 8 bars for three hours, your ears are gone. A reference resets your standard in 20 seconds.
No new songs finished? Start one more anyway. There’s no version of this where the answer is fewer ideas.
Lost the vibe? Switch instruments. Put down the guitar, sit at a keyboard. Your hands will find things your brain never would’ve chosen ;)

Stuck isn’t proof you’re not good enough. It’s a signal you’ve been doing the same thing too long. Change one variable and keep going.
