Being human is not enough, and already too much. Sometimes we act like robots but want to feel like animals. How can we breathe and rethink work and pleasure, art and industry, politics and poetics, when everything flows into each other, like streams into a river? Is the whole planet our home or just the square meters we occupy? The Ostrale O21 Biennale, opening this week at the Robotron Kantine in Dresden, may hold some possible answers to these burning questions. Visit the exhibition between July 1 and October 3, 2021. Located in the outskirts of Budapest, the former Haggenmacher brewery, where beer was brewed until the late '30s, the art quarter budapest creates today a different sort of creative blend, being a cultural melting pot, a center of creativity for artists from Hungary and abroad. This venue enables painters, sculptors, and all forms of artists and cultural craftsmen from different countries, to share, develop, to engage in cross-cultural creativity with local, Hungarian peers in order to broaden both professional and personal horizons and deepen their experience and perspective.

The Art Quarter Budapest, also a partner to Flowing Connections is meant to become a cross-cultural space of art in which international creatives of different artistic styles will encounter peers from Hungary and through this exchange be able to broaden both their professional and personal experiences and horizons.

The virtual open house video was made in cooperation with AQB tenents.

The Robotron-Kantine Dresden was built between 1969 and 1972 in the heart of Dresden. Until 1990 the building served as a company canteen for the employees. After the fall of the Wall, it was briefly used for cultural events, as a rehearsal stage and storage room until 2016. The building has been unused since the end of 2016. At the OSTRALE Biennale O21, the building will be revived as its main exhibition venue. These photos were taken by the Flowing Connections team just before the reactivation process started.

Last fall, the curators of Flowing Connections, gathered to start the process of selection of artworks for the first exhibition taking place at the OSTRALE Biennale 021 in the summer. Some of the partners, the vision, and considerations of the organization process are revealed in this short video as well as some of the tools the organizers use to found exhibitions that live up to the expectations and challenges of our age.

In these uncertain times, when the Corona pandemic is a major challenge for the cultural scene, it is more important than ever to send a signal that art can lift our spirits. Christmas will certainly be different, but OSTRALE Dresden, the leading partner of the Flowing Connections project, will nevertheless shine a light of hope and solidarity by illuminating culture for our neighborhood in Dresden-Übigau! ✨
In our Advent calendar, each day a different artwork will be projected on the wall of our art center in Rethelstraße 45, Dresden from 5:00 to 7:00 and from 17:00 to 23:00. ⏳🎁🦌
