"Even the brightest gold starts in the shadows..."
Today, I’m taking a trip down memory lane. I dug up this little Goblin, which was originally a fantastic free STL offered by the team at Blue Giant Studios (https://www.bluegiantstudios.co.uk/). This paint job dates back quite a while, and looking at it now is a humble reminder of where DT Studio Miniatures began.
At the time, I was so proud of this little guy. Looking back, I can see the shaky highlights and the 'creative' color choices. But that’s the beauty of this hobby: Progression.
The Evolution:
From Basic Coats to Advanced NMM: Back then, I was just learning to thin my paints; now, I’m pushing the limits of light on pieces like the Sanguinor.
From Free Prints to Master Sculpting: This Goblin started as a simple free STL, the base is totaly made by myself. I perform now, like my recent Execrator-to-Chaplain project.
The Constant: My love for characterful sculpts. Even years later, the personality in this Blue Giant Studios design still holds up. It’s proof that a great sculpt—even a free gift to the community—is a joy to paint at any skill level.
To all my fellow painters: don’t hide your old work. It’s the map of your progress. Every 'bad' miniature is a step toward your masterpiece.
