🎹 Meet the Jury: Álvaro Teixeira Lopes

Rounding out our jury introductions for the International Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf is our final jury member, Álvaro Teixeira Lopes.

Born in Portugal and trained in Porto, Vienna, and Paris, Álvaro is Artistic Director of the Santa Cecília International Competition (CISC) and the Santa Cecília International Festival.

Today we introduce jury member Michail Markov.

Born in Moscow and trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Michail is a professor at ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede and founder and artistic director of the Piano Competition Enschede.

Born in China and trained both there and at the Eastman School of Music, Zhe is Professor of Piano and Vice Dean at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

Today we introduce jury member Joanna Ławrynowicz.

Born and trained in Warsaw, Joanna is currently a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music — one of Poland's leading institutions for musical training.

Today we introduce jury member Rena Shereshevskaya.

Born in Moscow and trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Rena is currently a professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris "Alfred Cortot" — one of the most prestigious music academies in France.

🎹 Meet the Jury: Pavel Gililov

Today we introduce jury member Pavel Gililov — pianist, professor, and competition founder.

Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, and trained in St. Petersburg, Pavel holds professorships at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Beethoven Competition in Bonn.

🎹 Meet the Jury: Michael Becker

Continuing our jury introductions for the International Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf, next up is Michael Becker.

Born in Osnabrück and trained in Düsseldorf, Michael is active as musical director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage. Since 2007, he has also been musical director of the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.

🎹 Meet the Jury: Barbara Szczepańska

We're kicking off our jury introductions for the International Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf with our Artistic Director and Jury President, Barbara Szczepańska.

Born in Warsaw and trained in both Warsaw and Moscow, Prof. Szczepanska has spent many years as a professor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, where she also headed the "Schumann Junior" centre for gifted young students.

🎹 Save the date!

The International Robert Schumann Competition Düsseldorf returns for its 6th edition — bringing together the finest young pianists from around the world.

📅 30 March – 3 April 2027
📍 Robert-Schumann-Saal, Kunstpalast Düsseldorf

The competition culminates in a Final Concert with Orchestra on Saturday, 3 April 2027 at 18:00. All preliminary rounds are open to the public — and free of charge.
