Das Beuysradio läuft weiter auf Kulturkenner NRW
Das Beuys-Jahr ist zu Ende, aber unsere Podcastreihe »die erde spricht« bleibt weiter verfügbar! Was sagt uns Joseph Beuys heute? Wie wird er 100 Jahre nach seiner Geburt bewertet? Wie werden seine Ideen zu Kunst, Kapitalismus, Demokratie und Klima in unterschiedlichen Kulturräumen aufgenommen? Spielt er für die heutige Generation von Künstler*innen überhaupt eine Rolle? Um Antworten auf diese Frage zu finden, hatte das Team rund um das Jubiläumsjahr zu Beuys2021 das Beuysradio »die erde spricht« entwickelt. Und Stimmen von namhaften Künstler*innen, Wissenschaftler*innen und Schriftsteller*innen sowie Aktivist*innen, DJs und Künstler*innen gesammelt – aus deutscher, aber auch aus internationaler Perspektive.

Beuysradio continues on Kulturkenner NRW
The Beuys year has come to an end, but our podcast series »the earth is speaking« remains available! How does Joseph Beuys speak to us today? How do people evaluate Joseph Beuys in 2021? How are his ideas on art, capitalism, democracy and the environment received in different cultural environments?Does he play a role at all for the current generation of artists? To find answers to these questions, the team had developed the podcast series »die erde spricht« (»the earth is speaking«) around the anniversary year of »beuys 2021«. And collected voices from renowned artists, scientists and writers as well as activists, DJs and artists - from a German but also from an international perspective.
The podcast is now also available at Kulturkenner NRW and everywhere else where there are good podcasts!

Das Kolloquium »Das Problem Beuys« ist online!
Wer sich mit Joseph Beuys befasst, kam gerade im letzten Jahr nicht umhin, auch einen kritischen Blick auf seinen Lebenslauf/Werklauf zu werfen. Am 15. und 16. Oktober 2021 versammelten sich Beuys-Expert*innen, Journalist*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen hierzu im Haus der Universität der Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf.
Die Vorträge und Diskussionen wurden aufgezeichnet und sind seit einigen Wochen abrufbar in der Mediathek der Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf. Auf dass sie nur der Beginn waren für eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dem »Jahrhundertkünstler«!

The colloquium »The Problem with Beuys« is online
Anyone dealing with Joseph Beuys could not avoid taking a critical look at his curriculum vitae/work history, especially last year. On 15 and 16 October 2021, Beuys experts, journalists and academics gathered at Haus der Universität of Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf.
The lectures and discussions were recorded and have been available in the media library of Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf for several weeks. May they only be the beginning of a critical debate with the »artist of the century«!

Woodcut and Punk Rock – ein Gespräch mit Pangrok Sulap
In dieser Folge nehmen uns die in Kuala Lumpur lebende Konzept-, Installations- und Performancekünstlerin Sau Bin Yap und der Toningenieur Chris Pereira mit nach Sabah auf der Insel Borneo, wo sie mit dem lokalen Künstlerkollektiv Pangrok Sulab sprechen. Das Kollektiv hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, ländliche Gemeinden und ihre marginalisierten Bevölkerungsgruppen mit origineller Kunst zu unterstützen, die Themen wie Abholzung, Landbesitz, Armut, Bildung und kulturelle Identität beleuchtet.

Woodcut and Punk Rock – a conversation with Pangrok Sulap
In this episode Kuala Lumpur-based conceptual, installation and performance artist Sau Bin Yap and Sound Engineer Chris Pereira take us to Sabah on the island of Borneo where they talk to the local artist collective Pangrok Sulab. Their mission is to empower rural communities and their marginalised original art highlighting issues like deforestation, land ownership, poverty, education and cultural identity.

A social sculpture, the way that Beuys first imagined it, is bound to transformation as much as any other art form. In a historical moment where we see the multiplication of artists and forms of communicating with the audience, how did social sculptures mutate? Are social sculptures also vulnerable to the crisis of truth and to the current lack of trust in institutions? Vivian Caccuri interviewed curators Jochen Volz and Thiago de Paula, philosopher Rodrigo Nunes and artist Cibelle and combined their statements with her own digital musical compositions and a piece for choir.

Having been denied the performance rights of Joseph Beuys’s performance »Ja, ja, ja, ne, ne, ne«, Andrew Stock and Seth Brodsky developed their own strategy to solve the deadlock situation with the Beuys Trust: »Small Talk«. Under this title they watch Beuys’s famous 1969 video »Soziale Plastik« by Lutz Mommartz. They start musing on ideas of persona, charisma, recognition, and hope, and a rambling conversation begins that spans from the broader logic of European self-definition, geopolitics and colonialism to concepts of autonomy and subjectivity.
