What happens after you send us your logline? PICKASTORY is not only about pitching an idea – it’s about getting the support to take it further.

Simon Albin, our 2024 PICKASTORY winner, shares his experience:

PICKASTORY is the FilmFestival Cottbus competition dedicated to the very first spark of a film idea – with the audience involved from the very beginning.

Directors and screenwriters from across Europe with professional experience in the audiovisual industry.

Nach längerer Pause feiert die Lausitzer FilmSchau ihr Comeback bei den Open-Air-Kinonächten Schmellwitz. Freut euch auf aktuelle Kurz- und Nachwuchsfilme aus der Nieder- und Oberlausitz und entdeckt die kreativen Stimmen der Region.

Aus zahlreichen Einreichungen hat eine Auswahlkommission ein abwechslungsreiches Programm zusammengestellt, das die Vielfalt des Lausitzer Filmschaffens zeigt. Außerdem werden die Nachwuchspreise der Lausitzer FilmSchau vergeben.

After a longer break, the Lausitzer FilmSchau returns as part of the Open-Air-Kinonächte Schmellwitz. Discover short films and emerging filmmakers from Lower and Upper Lusatia and experience the creativity of the region on the big screen.

A selection committee reviewed numerous submissions and curated a diverse programme showcasing contemporary filmmaking from Lusatia. The evening will also feature the presentation of the Lausitzer FilmSchau awards.

🤝 Gemeinsam für den Kinderfilm!

Das FilmFestival Cottbus (FFC) und das SCHLiNGEL Filmfestival arbeiten ab 2026 zusammen. Gemeinsam wollen wir den Kinderfilm stärken und jungen Kinofans noch mehr besondere Filmerlebnisse bieten. Dafür werden künftig ausgewählte Filme der FFC-Sektion KIDS IM KINO in Zusammenarbeit mit dem SCHLiNGEL präsentiert.

Zwei Festivals, eine gemeinsame Idee: Kinder für das Kino begeistern. ❤️🍿

Starting in 2026, the FilmFestival Cottbus (FFC) and the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival will join forces. Together, we aim to strengthen children's cinema and create even more special film experiences for young audiences.

As part of FFC's KIDS IM KINO section, selected films will be presented in collaboration with SCHLiNGEL.

🎬 Unterwegs für das FilmFestival Cottbus!

Programmer Joshua Jádi war beim Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj-Napoca und hat dort aktuelle Filmprojekte und neue Talente aus Mittel- und Osteuropa entdeckt.

Ein Highlight: Katharina Stumm verlieh für unseren Koproduktionsmarkt connecting cottbus den CONNECTING COTTBUS COCOLAB: EAST-WEST EMERGING PRODUCERS AWARD an Mara Crăcăleanu für SUN OFFSPRING.

Zudem war Katharina gemeinsam mit Guillaume Calop vom Les Arcs Film Festival als Jurymitglied im Kurzfilmwettbewerb vertreten – ein schönes Beispiel für die enge Zusammenarbeit unserer europäischen Partnernetzwerke, darunter auch MIOB – Moving Images Open Borders.

Wir freuen uns auf viele spannende Entdeckungen für das kommende FFC! ✨🎥

🎬 On the road for FilmFestival Cottbus!

Our programmer Joshua Jádi attended the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj-Napoca, where he discovered exciting new film projects and emerging talents from Central and Eastern Europe.

One highlight was the presentation of the CONNECTING COTTBUS COCOLAB: EAST-WEST EMERGING PRODUCERS AWARD by Katharina Stumm on behalf of our co-production market connecting cottbus. The award went to Mara Crăcăleanu for her project SUN OFFSPRING.

Katharina also served on the Short Film Competition jury alongside Guillaume Calop from Les Arcs Film Festival – a great example of the close collaboration between our European partner networks, including MIOB – Moving Images Open Borders.

We look forward to bringing many exciting new discoveries to the upcoming edition of FilmFestival Cottbus! ✨🎥

100 Jahre Wajda beim Kozzi Film- und Theaterfestival in Zielona Góra 🇵🇱

Im Fokus standen in diesem Jahr neben Maciej „Kozzi“ Kozłowski vor allem Ewa Dałkowska und Andrzej Wajda, der 2026 100 Jahre alt geworden wäre. Gemeinsam mit Studierenden der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg waren wir vor Ort, um Wajdas Filme neu zu entdecken und aktuelle polnische Produktionen zu sehen. 🎥

Beim FFC 2026 setzen wir diese Perspektive mit Unterstützung der Stiftung für deutsch-polnische Zusammenarbeit fort: mit einer Wajda-Hommage und polnisch-deutschen Studierendenprogrammen. 🤝✨

100 Years of Wajda at the Kozzi Film and Theatre Festival in Zielona Góra 🇵🇱

This year, alongside Maciej “Kozzi” Kozłowski, the focus was primarily on Ewa Dałkowska and Andrzej Wajda, who would have turned 100 in 2026. Together with students from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, we were there to rediscover Wajda’s films and watch current Polish productions. 🎥

At the FFC 2026, we will continue this focus with the support of the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation: with a tribute to Wajda and Polish-German student programmes. 🤝✨
