UTOPIA

Imi Knoebel (*1940) belongs to the group of artists that has developed a radical, minimal form vocabulary in the 1960s. Since the beginning of his artistic career, Kasimir Malewitsch has always been a very important reference point to him. Avoiding any figuration, his mostly serial work is characterized by a virtuosic use of color and a geometric form language. The "Messerschnitt" or "knife cuts," are a recurring technique he employs, along with his regular use of the primary colors, red, yellow and blue. Knoebel lives and works in Düsseldorf.
Founded in August 2006, Galerie Christian Lethert has grown into an internationally operating business with its abstract-minimalist program. By fostering close relationships with artists, their work and their personal stories, the gallery has become a place where not only art is presented but also various encounters and developments happen that ultimately lead to placing art into collections and museums. Besides working with internationally established artists such as Imi Knoebel and Richard Tuttle, the gallery also represents selected emerging artists like Rana Begum, Henrik Eiben and Natascha Schmitten.

Did you know that German museums and art galleries have opened their venues again? Hence, when in Cologne, swing by ART COLOGNE exhibitor Galerie Christian Lethert, as their Kai Richter (*1969) show with new sculptural works and installations is on until July. The exhibition title "Already Made" refers to the fact that artistic creation always proceeds in the act of appropriation. The artist proves that this can happen in an original way and in the most diverse forms in his fifth exhibition at the gallery.
From 19 - 22 November 2020, Galerie Christian Lethert will be at ART COLOGNE GALLERIES section where modern and contemporary art of established galleries is featured. Founded in August 2006, the gallery has grown into an internationally operating business with its abstract-minimalist program.

Gallery owner Rhonda Long-Sharp asked the gallery's full-time employees to share one of their favorite contemporary women artists. The catch: it had to be a woman the gallery does not represent or exhibit. We’ll be sharing the results below… Please feel free to share one of your favorite women artists with us, too!
Rhonda Long-Sharp selected as one of her favorites established painter, sculptor, and print maker, Kelly Reemtsen. She is represented by David Klein Gallery in the United States (paintings and sculpture) and Lyndsey Ingram in the UK (prints and multiples).
Nicole Sharp chose the inimitable Kenturah Davis, who beautifully juxtaposes larger-than-life text, design, and portraiture. She is represented by Jenkins Johnson Gallery [San Francisco/New York].
Rachel Coy named as one of her favorites photographer duo Beckwith & Fisher, represented by Holden Luntz Gallery [Florida].
Arianna Cruz picked abstract minimalist Rana Begum. She is represented by Kate MacGarry [London], Third Eye Gallery [Dubai], Jhaveri Contemporary [Mumbai], and Galerie Christian Lethert [Cologne].
View in Cologne | Joe Fyfe's solo exhibition 'Lob Des Lernens', on view at Galerie Christian Lethert until 11 January 2020, includes fragments of Berthold Brecht's poetry in collages made of various fabrics.
