WE ARE DEVELOPING DIE RATGEBER INTO A STAGE PROJECT --> SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW
Die Ratgeber are becoming an international performance group consisting of improvised dance and electro-acoustic music. Our performance shows use improvisation techniques in dialogue with the audience to create a feedback loop between the group and the audience. Before the show starts, audience members are invited to write down answers to personal psychological questions about themselves and place them in a box. An actress/actor creates a "Ratsucher" character, based on the answers of the audience members, who serve as the show's Ratsucher, or “advice seeker”. During the show the dancers & musicians give performative advice to the Ratsucher. One performer, the group's "Ratgeber" (counselor), leads the on-stage experience.
We are currently looking for different parts to complete our ensemble:
Ratgeber/in: a female identifying or non-binary performer, who leads the onstage action:
- powerful and mysterious stage presence
- mainly nonverbal communication
- interaction with dancers/actors/musician
Rattanzer/in: male and female identifying dancers who can improvise as "advice dancers":
the dancers are the vehicle that convey the advice together with the Ratspieler ("advice-music-performer")
- Ratsucher/in: male and female identifiying actors who can improvise as "advice-seekers" :
the actor/actress constructs the advice seeker based on the answers of the audience in the moment of performance and in dialogue with the "advice-giver" on stage and a director backstage
For now this is a No-Budget-Project. Die Ratgeber have existed in a different format since 2015 and now aim to become a stage project, but we're not there yet. We hope to book a run at a paid theatre venue this autumn, at which point all performers would receive payment.
