What an encounter these past few days at Fracto.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped shape this edition through their presence, attention, and exchange.

From the conversations with our guests, to the curiosity and engagement of the workshop participants, to Jan Kulka's unforgettable performance, each moment contributed to the unique atmosphere of the festival.

Most of all, thank you to the audience for showing up with openness and commitment. The atmosphere of the festival was created as much in the room as on the stage.

We're grateful to everyone who shared their time, work, and trust with us.

Until next time!

Tonight, FRACTO 2026 concludes with Expanded Cinema: Jan Kulka at ACUD CLUB.

Working with custom-built projection systems and handmade film formats, Czech artist Jan Kulka explores the material and perceptual conditions of cinema through light, movement, repetition, and interference. His performances transform projection into a live, spatial experience where images oscillate between attraction, disruption, and disappearance.

Presented live, the program brings together three works that push film beyond the screen and into the space of projection itself.

Tonight at 19:00 at ACUD KINO, we conclude our Focus dedicated to Cécile Fontaine with Part II: Political Deconstructions.

Bringing together works spanning nearly two decades, the program explores Fontaine’s transformative engagement with found footage, where newsreels, commercials, fiction films, and documentary images are cut, displaced, corroded, and reassembled into new cinematic territories.

Through collage, chemical intervention, and material manipulation, familiar images are detached from their original contexts and set into motion again, revealing unexpected connections between memory, politics, desire, and representation.

Cécile Fontaine will be present for a Q&A following the screening.

Today, on the final day of FRACTO 2026, we present Selection #5: Grayscale.

Bringing together works by Simon Payne, Raquel Vermunt, Sophie Watzlawick, Kate Solar, Robert Schaller, Manuel Knapp, Siegfried A. Fruhauf, Douglas Urbank, and Nikita Baranov, the program explores the expressive possibilities of black and white, grain, flicker, texture, and light.

Across these films, perception unfolds through unstable surfaces and shifting forms. Images emerge and disappear, oscillating between abstraction and recognition, inscription and sensation, tracing a physical cartography of movement, memory, and material transformation.

FOCUS: CÉCILE FONTAINE — PART 1
Home (Made) Movies

A program dedicated to Cécile Fontaine’s exploration of film as material: scratching, layering, soaking, collaging, and transforming found images into tactile cinematic forms. Through chemical and mechanical interventions on celluloid, these works trace the entanglement of light, color, movement, and memory, where images break apart and re-emerge in new configurations.

SELECTION #4: SENSUOUS LIGHT

A program of films where light becomes both material and event. Moving between exposure and encounter, these works explore the image as a site of contact—where matter, time, and the outside world leave their trace. At the threshold between framing and openness, film reveals its own limits, making visible what resists being captured.

FOCUS: MOUCLE BLACKOUT

A key figure of the postwar Austrian avant-garde, Moucle Blackout developed a singular cinematic language through material experimentation, chromatic layering, and optical transformation. Her films navigate the tensions between body and culture, desire and constraint, nature and technology.

Peter Todd - Part 2 • A Room with a View

The section A Room with a View maps the prolongation of places into consciousness. External topographies confound with fragile interiorities. The outside folds into the self. The psyche recesses into the hallways of the house. The house is a nest for imagining, a refuge for dreaming, a shelter for becoming. There is a house that contains us and a house that is contained in us.

The celluloid endures the continuum and ruptures between geometrical spaces and inhabited spaces - one space spills, is swallowed, is deformed and reformed by the other. With these five films of Peter Todd, one ought to accept solitude, to embrace, even if only momentarily, a wandering around enchanted rooms. Todd’s films demonstrate so tenderly that the space can be poetry.

Today at 16:30 at ACUD KINO, we present Selection #3: Living Skin.

The program moves through questions of belonging, displacement, intimacy, camouflage, and transformation.

Here, bodies and landscapes become porous surfaces, exposed to memory, sensation, and the outside world. Through repetition, pulsation, and mechanical rhythms, images drift between presence and disappearance, moving beyond narrative toward perception itself.
