If you got a ticket to the Friday night show of the festival, you might have noticed something a bit different. That’s because this was more than just a showcase; it was a leap into the unknown.

The idea was simple. Take performers from across disciplines that usually wouldn’t work together and give them the freedom to co-create something entirely original in a collaborative rehearsal process.

Nearly 2 months later, and the stage was set for a truly genre-defying q***r work. We’d say it turned out pretty well, what about you?

It’s been one whole month since we cut the ribbon on Berlin’s first-ever Q***r Performance Festival. We’ve just about had time to pick our jaws up off the floor and put the kettle on.

The first edition of this festival was more than any of us could have hoped. Joy. Rage. Care. Protest. Creativity. Collaboration. Mistakes. Learning from them. Some light pe***ng of the patriarchy.

It truly took a village and it would be impossible to thank everyone that made this happen but here goes nothing… Thank you to every single person who bought a ticket. Thank you to the more than fifty performers for sharing your vision and your avant garde. Thank you to the workshop hosts for holding the space and passing on the baton. Thank you to all our venues for believing in us. Thank you to the funders for the moolah. Thank you to the volunteers, the designers, the photographers, the videographers, the host, the backstage wizards, the stage managers, the sound and light technicians, the producers, the strategists, the sounding boards, the soliloquy-writing social media boss, the daring dramaturgs and everyone that submitted to the open call.

Without you, there would have been no festival.
