Exactly ten years ago, on Sept. 25th 2009, Dixit Algorizmi Gallery held its inaugural vernissage in Berlin Mitte. DA was the first gallery for contemporary art to focus on artists who work at the nexus of art and algorithms.

This first vernissage showcased the large-scale robot drawings of Portuguese artist Leonel Moura. Each time I look at these works, they instill the same feelings of excitement as my very first encounter.

I thank all the loyal artists, companions and friends of the gallery for our 10 years together. I am curious - and indeed have great anticipation! - for what the future may bring.
Have a nice evening and see you soon!

John Franzen‘s first solo exhibition @ Galerie Ora-Ora | Hongkong

Stay tuned for our first solo exhibition with the German artist John Franzen. By drawing one line after another in continual motion, the artist has created a legible categorization system. Our show will shed light on Franzen’s scientific and cognitive approach.

SUBJEKTBESCHLEUNIGER | ENO HENZE | 2008

The Subjektbeschleuniger (subject accelerator) mimics signatures subatomic particles leave in collision detectors such as installed at the CERN in Geneva. I have always been fascinated by the beauty and simplicity of these signatures as opposed to their invisible meaningfulness. I use these shapes to create an image that still carries the symbolic reference of these signatures but that is dispensed from scientific interpretability at the same time. The drawing becomes a mere symbol for a very fundamental search. What we do at institutions like the CERN is the cutting edge of contemporary enlightenment – with all the debatable implications of this term … So the drawing is not a scientific evidence, but rather an aesthetic evidence for our search for the absolute, for the fact that we want to know the rules that define the way our world works at its core.

Back when computers were still as big as refrigerators, and seen mainly in government and university laboratories, a few pioneering artists figured out how to use the machines for personal expression. A new MoMA exhibit shows the extraordinary output of Charles Csuri, Alison Knowles and Vera Molnar.

One Line, One Breath - John Franzen

If you were to think about the meaning of your existence, would it revolve around your positive memories or your religious beliefs? Why not try to think about the simple idea of lines, which represent so much more than you may have thought?
