Did you know that our home, the Funkhaus, was built to be the largest radio-broadcasting site in the world?
A joint effort of architects and acousticians, it was built solely for the purpose of music, to create a world-class broadcasting campus with studios designed to meet every need imaginable.
The Funkhaus has been home to Catalyst (formerly named dBs Berlin) for close to a decade, growing to host 25 studios and production suites, including 4 insanely atmospheric vintage studios with configurable live rooms, 1 gorgeous vintage mastering studio, 6 contemporary music production studios, 4 historic small production suites, 9 side room production studios, 1 surround sound equipped studio and 1 radio studio. It's the perfect place to dream big!

“All catastrophes are algorithmic, even the natural ones, when we consider the universe to be governed by regular and automated laws of motion and principles of emergence.” - Yuk Hui, 2015
At Signals Festival, Electronic Music Production & Performance alumnus Antonino Modica took inspiration from from modern theories of cybernetics and media philosophy in his The Algorithmic Catastrophe performance.
He used an elaborate network of carefully coded software and hardware devices, opening the performance to a wide range of possible sonic outcomes, often unpredictable even to himself.
