Green Hill Gallery is pleased to announce the open call for the new exhibition on the topic of identity, connectivity, and community.

☘️This exhibition wants to be a journey in the discovery of what identity means nowadays and how it can be influenced by changes, as well as by the way one connects with oneself, others, and the outside world. It challenges artists to explore the confrontation between showing oneself to oneself and showing oneself to others.

🔷We invite emerging and established artists working in any medium from Berlin and from all over the world to participate in this call, as long as the topic is explored through the artwork.
✅ The open call deadline is 15.02.2021.

➡️ You can find additional information and the application form here: https://form.jotform.com/210243104487346.

💌 We look forward to receiving your application! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

Action on Hold is a three-part exhibition, on display at Green Hill Gallery hosted by Kulturschöpfer between December 2020 and January 2021, investigating subliminal responses to the current global pandemic. Over the course of eight weeks, the gallery space will be deconstructed and re-assembled twice, concluding at the end of January.

When we perceive danger, the body elicits one of three automatic responses that are out of our control but which aim to protect us from immediate harm. Our heart rate increases, our pain perception drops and our hearing sharpens in preparation for our next move, which may be either fight, flight or freeze. Each reaction is the result of a complex chain of hormonal and physiological changes designed solely for our survival. But what happens when our actions are put on hold? Where do we turn to in order to secure our own safety when the threat we seek to overcome is one affecting so many aspects of our lives?

In an attempt to address some of these concerns, artists Florent Lubienicki (FR), Silvia Sarsano (IT), Jeremy Philip Knowles (UK), Audriana Acuña (USA) and Kon Turner (DE) present a varied and personal response to life under pressure by exploring how we react to moments of crisis.

The experience of being “in between” is like the moment when a trapeze artist lets go of the bar and hangs in midair, ready to catch another support. It is a time of danger, of expectation, uncertainty, unknown, excitement, and extraordinary aliveness. We invite everyone to live out this moment in the air with us and experience an exciting route to a new support, and a new beginning.

IN//BETWEEN #5 Lockdown Edition wants to welcome the unknown and the uncertainty in which we are all living, creating an opportunity for artists to create, share, listen, and learn from each other, while reflecting on the worlds in between the “before and after,” the “yesterday and tomorrow.” It is not just an exhibition – it is a collaborative project that brings together the community in times when TOGETHER has much more meaning and value than ever.

❓ What is it?
After quite a competitive contest, five artists with diverse backgrounds and experiences were selected for the project. Using different mediums, including paint, sound, photography, and installation, they will build a unique exhibition that showcases the nexus between cross-cultural dialogue and growth. Together we will follow and influence their process of creating new from the unknown, and learn to re-discover beauty in a new way in a new time, embracing the unknown as a resource and space for exploration.

❓ What will the end result be?
We don’t know! We don’t have any rules or deadlines. The project will be changed over time by all of us.
We want to give you the opportunity to reflect with us on the unknown and on its role as a space without defined rules, in which creativity and imagination can reverse its meaning from negative to positive.

❓ How can I participate?
You can engage in the creation process starting NOW!
Visit: Come and have a peak through the windows to see how the five artists work every day at Green Hill Gallery (Kulturschöpfer, Grünbergerstr. 13, 10243 Berlin).

Online: You can also follow their process through we will tell you about the artists and their stories with online streams and videos of the process every day via our social media (Facebook and Instagram https://instagram.com/kulturschoepfer) and YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4r_vjkxM2wSYO5RL78m73A. IN//BETWEEN Re-Open Call
 - Calling Berlin Artists

Due to the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic and resulting financial and travel challenges that have occurred, we are reopening the Open Call for our IN//BETWEEN Residency. Most all of our international applicants who were accepted are unfortunately now not able to attend because of financial challenges and/or travel restrictions. There is such a need right now for creativity, community, and collaboration, and we want to do all that we can to enable that. The price will be reduced to 250 Euros, and if that is still too much, then you can apply for a scholarship to help offset the costs more. The deadline for applications will be 17. August and applicants will be informed 24. August. Residency Program begins on 20. September and goes through 25. October 2020. The vernissage will occur on 23. October 2020.

Was macht Heimat aus? Und welche Rolle spielt die Natur dabei? The issue of migration is omnipresent today. Thus the question of home or the concept of home is not far away. Many people have to find a new home, be it for humanitarian, economic or climatic reasons. But even people who are not directly affected by migration feel increasingly uprooted, especially in the cities. What is home like? And what role does nature play in this?

Kulturschöpfer präsentiert 16 internationale Künstler, die sich mit den Themen Migration, Heimat und Natur auseinandergesetzt haben:

Thanks to @paulglavinski for putting together this great film of our current exhibition In//Between #4: Private Public and In between, at the Green Hill Gallery.

The notions of Public and Private are complex, as they relate to multiple aspects of our lives, and affect us by forcing a constant decision-making process that dictates our conditions of safety. What is public, and what is private, becomes an issue of binary opposites when there is an obscure and confusing area that lies in between. Are public and private separate, or can they be the same? Who is able to draw the distinction? What is at stake when defining private and public? Is this all related to safety; and if so, of whom?

In this exhibition artists Funda Zeynep Ayguler, Ioana Butloc, Lionel Cruet, Marcel Everling, Francesco Gioacchini, Jeremy Knowles, Valentina Michelini and Marie-Charlotte Nouza created an art installation that reminds us of the living environment, challenging the notion of private and public and what lies in between by engaging with an interactive, thought provoking space that aims to find new ways to discuss and make visible these issues and to spark new ways of thinking about this subject.
