Thank you very much Astrid Mania!
Thank you Artforum!

Congratulations to Ilse Henin for this outstanding exhibition!

On view until May 18, 2019

In West Germany, the late 1960s were a notoriously vibrant time of political and social unrest, artistic solidarity, and experimentation, often combined with anti-capitalist critiques. For Ilse Henin, a student in those years, it was a formative period. Trained as a painter, she would go on to dedic...

JD ZAZIE is an experimental DJ, avant-turntablist and sound artist. Coming from a DJ and a radiophonic background JD Zazie has explored over the years different approaches of real-time manipulation on fixed recorded sound. In her work she redefines DJ and electroacoustic activities. As a solo performer, in small groups or large ensembles she moves in an area which is constantly stretching the borders of what is supposed to be DJ mixing, free improvisation and composed music. Juxtaposition, decontextualization, fragmentation, repetition, sonic texture, scratch and error are elements of the grammar adopted to relate, organize and rearrange the sound material. She is art director of “MuseRuole - women in experimental music” festival, as well as a member of the Burp Enterprise collective and broadcasts monthly on Co Lab Radio and on Reboot.fm.

DJ ShluchT as part of

Installation for Radio Broadcast and Live Performance.

Hailing from Berlin DJ ShluchT works at DIYChurch.org as one of their unpaid interns since more than 10 years. He made himself a name within the online art club/ netart and message board scene as well as naive ghost coding, organising and running the venue westgermany and tape looping. His Dj sets are very eclectic – drug referential stoner-logic reflecting on movies without watching them and basically it always sounds the same or like one of his critics once said: "classic intuitive wrongfootedness". When he is not djing or radioing, ShluchT likes to sit in his virtual bay & watch his yachts, little known but he runs a virtual yacht club where he shares his enthusiasm for underwater landscape painting and networked waves. He also released some mixtapes & audio works.

Releases:
*Snakes on a Plane via ZAMZAM records
*Dark films that eyes see at night via Stenze Quo records
*spears – Utilitarian Outlook via more records
*Eine nervtötende Geräumigkeit via Staaltapes
*I used to sleep under rocks - mix for primitive languages

Congratulation to Hilla Toony Navok, who wins the Beatrice Kolliner Prize for a Young Israeli Artist!

The ceremony will be held at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.

Statement of the Jury:
Hilla Toony Navok is “a multidisciplinary artist who explores the formal and aesthetic codes of mass-produced, everyday objects. Like a magician, she takes industrial objects, casts them as if they were actors in the theater, charges them with performative qualities, and creates precise formal sentences that are simultaneously playful and full of humor. Her works are compositions charged with aesthetic value and a distinct palette that draw on modernist forms.”

26/11/2018

Alexandra Leykauf's 42-min-film „Aerial“ (2018) was first shown at Focal Point Gallery in Southend-on-Sea and was realised during Leykauf’s ARC fellowship at Southend-on-Sea in Essex, where she has been investigating the visual language of landscape through its image, history and representation with a particulate focus on the landscape of Essex - beginning with JA Baker, whose seminal work "The Peregrine", describing the landscape through a compression of his experiences over 10 years into a single year long narrative, is widely acknowledged as the foundation stone of contemporary nature writing.

To expand on this idea of a layering of time, representation and experience, Leykauf worked with collections of aerial archaeological photographs, historical documents and 19th Century landscape paintings to follow up her ongoing research into the ways in which landscape can be understood and represented as a layering of experience, real and imagined, a collage of our relationship to nature and an expression of our society and our relationship to creativity at different points through history.

Alexandra Leykauf’s amazing site-specific cyanotype print is part of the exhibition project „Mimicry-Empathy“, initiated by Susanne Bürner at Lajevardi Foundation in Tehran.

For the work „sky above clouds“ Leykauf roughly copied Georgia O’Keeffe’s 1965 mural with the same title using black paint on the glass facade of the Lajevardi Foundation. The window painting was subsequently transferred to fabric by means of the historic photographic process of cyanotype. The resulting prints are presented on the wall opposite the glass facade.

„Mimicry-Empathy“ is an exhibition on the dissolution of the self as a gesture of empathy, curated by Anne-Sophie Dinant and Amirali Ghasemi and presents works by BLESS, Ulla von Brandenburg, Susanne Bürner, Berta Fischer, Sofia Hultén, Jochen Lempert, Alexandra Leykauf, Annette Kelm and Wiktor Gutt/Waldemar Raniszewski.
