Burnt Sienna Art School Berlin. A private art school founded in 2016 and based in the heart of Neukölln, Berlin.

The studio offers art school academy level foundation courses in drawing and oil painting, workshops, residencies, lectures and exhibitions. Burnt Sienna Berlin is an organisation founded and based in the heart of Berlin's art district, Neukölln. Burnt Sienna provides classes and workshops including life drawing, painting tutorials, mentoring, portfolio reviews and studio visits in Berlin.

Mar joined the Burnt Sienna Salon with Self Portrait, an oil painting created as part of her journey with us.

She previously took our Intermediate Painting Course with Hannah Turner-Duffin, continuing to explore her own way of working with oils and developing her painting practice.

Mar’s self portrait is the sea.

There’s something we love about that idea: a portrait doesn’t always have to begin with a likeness. Sometimes a place, a landscape, a colour or even a feeling can say just as much about who we are.

𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒛 🤎

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, Christine presented Void, Emptiness and Fullness in the Mountains, an oil painting on canvas. 🎨

The Salon brought together such different ways of approaching painting, and Christine’s work was part of what made that mix so special: different subjects, different visual languages and different relationships with the medium all sharing the same walls.

That was really at the heart of the exhibition for us. Creating a space where artists could bring their work together, discover one another and simply be part of something collectively. 🤎

Dorota joined Burnt Sienna through our Oil Painting Foundation, taking the first steps into the techniques and possibilities of working with oils.

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, she presented Pausa, an oil painting on canvas. 🎨

There’s something we really love about seeing a painting journey begin. The Foundation is about learning the tools and techniques, but also about gaining the confidence to experiment, make decisions and start discovering what kind of painter you might want to become.

Seeing those first steps make their way from the studio onto the walls of the Salon is always special. ✨

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, Alexandra presented Underwater Love, a large-scale oil painting on canvas.

Alexandra’s journey with Burnt Sienna began with our Oil Painting Foundation Course and continued with Intermediate Painting, building on those foundations while gradually developing her own approach to painting. 🤎

This is one of the things we love most about the Salon: seeing how differently each artist takes what they learn in the studio and makes it completely their own.

𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑵𝒐𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒎 🤎

Noor has been part of the Burnt Sienna community through many different stages of her artistic journey. She began with our Oil Painting Foundation, continued with Intermediate Painting, joined workshops with Anna Kraske, and is now part of our Mentoring Programme.

Her work was also included in the Burnt Sienna Salon, bringing the practice she has been developing in the studio onto the gallery walls. 🎨

It’s incredibly special for us to accompany an artist over time, from learning the foundations to gradually finding their own questions, interests and visual language. Noor’s journey is a lovely example of what can happen when you give a painting practice the time and space to grow.

Ursel has been part of the Burnt Sienna community through our Drawing Figure Club with Chris, spending time in the studio drawing from the figure and exploring observation through drawing.

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, she brought something different to our walls❤️✨

And that’s exactly what the Salon was about: bringing together all the different directions painting can take within our community. 🤎

Mirjam has explored drawing at Burnt Sienna from very different perspectives, joining both Experimental Portrait Drawing with Hannah Turner-Duffin and Museum & Studio Drawing with Jane Haycock.

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, she presented Zermittensee, bringing together acrylics and oil sticks in a work that moves beyond the materials and approaches she explored in class.

This is something we really love seeing: what happens when the things you learn in the studio become a starting point rather than an end point. Trying new materials, following your curiosity and gradually discovering what feels like your own. 🎨✨

𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂𝒉 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒕 🤎

For the Burnt Sienna Salon, Hannah presented Animo flore, an oil painting on canvas.

After some time away from painting, Hannah decided to find her way back to it by joining our Artist Residency Programme in Charlottenburg. We honestly couldn’t be happier to see her painting again, and we love being able to be excited for her through this process of reconnecting with her practice. 🎨

You might also spot her from time to time at our Wednesday Evening Live Sessions with our lovely مهدا صمیمی فر , sharing the studio, painting from life and simply enjoying being around other artists again.

For us, this is such an important part of Burnt Sienna. An artistic practice doesn’t always move in a straight line. Sometimes you stop, sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes you find the space to begin again. 🤎
