Standing in front of #5 (Reds) today at the Neue Nationalgalerie.

In a few days I step onto the stage as Mark Rothko.

John Logan’s RED takes us inside Rothko’s studio at a moment when his work looms large over the art world — and the pressure to create something lasting becomes almost unbearable.

Opening night is now sold out, but there are still seats for remaining performances week.

If you’ve been thinking about coming, this is the moment.

Director Brian Bell brings his incisive eye and dramaturgical rigor to John Logan’s RED.

Originally from Texas and now based in Germany, Brian has staged work at state theatres in Weimar, Meiningen, Chemnitz, Heilbronn, Ingolstadt, Schwedt, and Baden-Baden. Since 2016, he has directed the Berlin Shakespeare series Shakespeariment, creating more than twenty new productions to date.

His work interrogates power structures and masculinity through bold, exuberant storytelling — a lens that makes RED feel urgent and contemporary.

We’re working on something intense. 🎨🔥

After years of teaching and directing, Acting Muscle founder Adam Ludwig steps back onto the stage this March as Mark Rothko in RED by John Logan — a razor-sharp play about art, power, legacy, and ego.

Directed by , this Berlin production brings together a fearless team:

🎭 Josh Spriggs as Ken
🎬 Izzy Rousmaniere, Assistant Director

Rehearsals are already crackling with energy, argument, and big questions about what art costs — and who pays for it.

Lights up on the Ensemble’s fabulous performance of “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike”! It’s no exaggeration to say we had our opening night audience in tears — laughing and crying. Please come to see the final performances of this hysterical, poignant romp, brought to life by a very special group of actors.
