Dance residency at TATWERK and in Hasenheide

The UNKNOWN GEOGRAPHIES residency programme focuses on somatic and choreographic practices in conversation with public space and nature, that link urban ecology with post-human insights and inclusive concepts of agency.
The residency will hold Volkspark Hasenheide and TATWERK’s studio as the working locations, allowing the physical dimensions of urban space to be explored in depth.

Depending on their practice and interests, artists can focus on different aspects within the ‘unknown geographies‘. Artists should explore any aspect of the park that calls them and incorporate the local context, and can further deepen and consolidate established practices or find the space to explore new practices.

📆 RESIDENCY PERIOD: 07.07.25 - 01.08.25

🤸‍♂️🌿🏙️ Who we’re looking for:

⁃ Individual artists or artist groups of max. 4 people who live and work in Berlin, whose work focuses on dance

⁃ Artists who have not previously worked with TATWERK
⁃ Artists who have been excluded from fundings due to discrimination
⁃ University-enrolled artists at the time of residency are ineligible

🤝💡 What we offer:

Decentralized and democratic curation - Neighborhood commissions of care

A knowledge sharing collaboration with Milano Mediterranea and Tatwerk in Berlin, to imply a new way of curating and community organizing in the area of our community hub, Szendvicsbar. The artistic director of Placcc, Fanni is now spending a week in Tatwerk, attending workshops, and preparing the open call plus strategies of a truly diverse and accessible neighborhood committee! In Hungary, people often feel powerless to have influence on their life and supportsystems, and there is little to no embodied experience of democratic decision having direct impact - especially for those, who’s rights are limited and didn’t even allow them to vote, or the communities otherwise excluded from processes through unaccessibility.

🏘️A thousand doors, but one story!
Only a few days left to reach the goal of our crowdfunding. Donate now, and support independent, intercultural, grassroot organizing in Hungary!
https://whydonate.com/en/fundraising/a-mi-csikagonk-szomszedunnep-our-csikago-neighbourhood-festival

Neighbourhood Committees of Care aims at exchanging good practices at a European level to implement participatory processes and community engagement on just transition matters through artistic projects. Milano Mediterranea’s (Mimed) methodology on participatory practices in socio-economic peripheral areas will be scaled in two districts of Berlin and Budapest where Tatwerk Performative Forschung and PLACCC Festivals are based. An intergenerational, multilingual and multicultural neighborhood art committee of local inhabitants will be established in each local context and will design an open call to collect innovative and participatory artistic proposals on urgent environmental challenges to achieve a just transition. Artists and local communities will be invited to co-produce an artwork during a month-long residency. Results from the processes in each country will be presented to a broader audience both at Twiza festival in Milan and in PLACCC festival in Budapest as examples of bottom-up urban regeneration processes.

This project was made possible with the financial support of the Culture of Solidarity Fund powered by the European Cultural Fundation.

The participation in the meeting was supported by Collegium Hungaricum Berlin..

Decentralizált és demokratikus döntéshozás a kurátori feladatokban- Szomszédsági gondoskodó bizottságok

Helyi ügyekért a helyiekkel!

Adományozz most, és támogasd a független, interkulturális, alulról szerveződő magyarországi szerveződést!

A Neighbourhood Committees of Care célja jó gyakorlatok cseréje európai szinten, hogy művészeti projekteken keresztül valósítson meg részvételi folyamatokat és közösségi elkötelezettséget ún. "Just transitions"folyamatokban.

INVITATION to celebrating

10 YEARS OF TATWERK - POSSIBLE FUTURES

with us!

On Friday, 13th December 2024, from 3pm, we want to find together a common way of coping, of resisting and projecting ourselves into POSSIBLE FUTURES.

Our birthday party is about celebrating what TATWERK means, enables, and has built over the years along with the existing community around us - although the circumstances on both the local and global level might feel like we are heading at full speed towards the end of the world.

We invite you for a day-long celebration of our common POSSIBLE FUTURES. We will display TATWERK’s archive of the past 10 years, host a dinner, propose a collective installation of materialized memories, and share performative interventions by Ana Kavalis, Dan Dansen, L'Abbate, Gabriela Turano, Giorgia Bovo & Carley Marholin , Min Yoon, Ludomir Franczak und -Hsiang Wang & Yi-Wei Tien.

Later on, we hope to dance the night away.

We would be really happy to have you with us on this special day in TATWERK's history!

Let us know by December 6th that you’re coming by via e-mail to [email protected] .

We were all unicorns. We can all be phoenixes.

Today 29th of November 2024, 3-6pm.
Funeral march against planned cuts to Berlin’s cultural budget.
Neptunbrunnen - Brandenburger Tor

We are in danger. All of us. The fragile ecosystem that has sustained us, the workers of the Freie Szene, is crumbling.
We all know the figures by now. We express our solidarity with all artists and workers affected by the budget cuts, and with all Berliners who will suffer the silence imposed on us.

Inspired by Christian Kracht’s novel »Faserland« and babbling podcasts with a male double cast, she explores the cliché of the young, West German academic who goes through life as a checker surrounded by status symbols and successes over a glass of champagne. In »Faserlandboys und Ich«, she scrutinises the pop-cultural zeitgeist of the turn of the millennium from a female, post-migrant perspective. Between bookshelves and piles of books, Fatima Çalışkan rambles back uninhibitedly, interweaves pop-cultural references and overwrites Kracht’s bestsellers with her voice and simply reviews her work herself in a literary quartet for the stage.

„FIVE LINES“ is the new hybrid creation of The FrauTrapp Company. A new form of performing art named Micro Cinema Theatre, which combines theatre and puppetry, audio-visual art, and live music.

Scale models, acting, live music and audiovisuals come together to bring the story of a musician to life in a hypothetical dystopian world.
FIVE LINES is a multidisciplinary performance in which the various situations that the protagonist tells us through an off-voice can be observed from different points of view, thanks to the synthesizing power of the language of the micro cinema theatre.
A dystopian setting in which the earth, dying of climate collapse, pushes society to adapt by locking itself in claustrophobic spaces, sacrificing freedom in exchange for security. Love and the will to live will accompany, like a distant melody, the flow of this adventure in which we must find out if we still have alternatives in this life path.

In FIVE LINES we claim the ironic persistence of hope even in the toughest situations, which allows us to imagine and sometimes create better worlds.

The performance premiered in april 2023 in Barcelona‘s IX Puppet Festival „Rombic“.

🗝️ Language: German, French, English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian.
👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 Audience: adults and teens from 12 years old
