The Artist Application Live Workshop is opening again in May.
This is the last round before winter, and the group is intentionally small: maximum 8 artists.

Across 3 live Zoom sessions, we’ll work on the core materials artists need for applications:
artist statement
project proposal
portfolio structure
CV

You’ll learn how applications are read, what selection committees need to understand, and how to shape your materials so they are clearer, stronger, and easier to adapt for future opportunities.
Each session includes live teaching, examples, guided writing/editing time, feedback, and Q&A.

Dates:
14 May · 21 May · 28 May 2026
18:00–19:30 CEST
Live on Zoom · recordings included
Early Bird price: €129 until 30 April
After that: €149

This is the last workshop round before winter, so if you’ve been meaning to improve your application materials, this is the moment to join.

Most artists applying for grants, residencies, or exhibitions don’t struggle because they’re not working on their materials.
They struggle because they’re not sure if what they’ve written is actually working.

You might already have:
an artist statement
a project proposal
a portfolio
But you’re still asking yourself:
Is this clear?
Is this strong enough?
Is this what they’re looking for?

That’s exactly where most applications get stuck.
Not because the work isn’t there,
but because it’s hard to see your own material clearly.

I’m opening a new round of the Artist Application Live Workshop, a small, practical workshop where we work directly on your materials:

Artist Statement
Project Proposal
Portfolio
CV

Each session includes 15 minutes of guided writing, so you’re not just learning, you’re actually making progress on your own texts.
The goal is simple:
to help you turn what you already have into something clear, structured, and strong enough to send.

If you’ve been meaning to fix your materials for a while, this is the moment to actually do it.

Before you apply to any grant, residency, or open call, pause for a moment.

A strong application is not only about “good writing.” It is about making sure the opportunity fits your work, your text is clear, and your portfolio supports the story you are telling.

These are 7 things I recommend checking before you apply.

Save this for your next deadline.

Thank you Larissa, it was my pleasure to get to know you and your work ❤️

The hardest part of artist applications is often not the work itself.

It’s sitting alone with your own material and not knowing what to fix, what to cut, or what actually matters.

That’s where many strong artists get stuck.

They keep rewriting, adjusting, and second-guessing, without ever feeling sure the material is really working.

If that’s where you are right now, don’t stay stuck in it.

I have a limited number for new artists this month.

DM me if you have questions, or book a free meeting if you’re ready to get started.

Your application is not being read the way you think.

Most committees move through many applications in a row,
trying to understand each one quickly.

They are not looking for beautiful writing.

They are looking for clarity.

If they don’t understand what the work is,
what it looks like,
and why it matters,

they move on.

They don’t reread.
They don’t try to figure it out.

I’ve seen great artists get rejected for this reason again and again.

If this feels familiar, the problem is usually not the work.

It’s how clearly it’s being communicated.

Most artists don’t have a writing problem.

They have a clarity problem.

So they sit down to write and:
– try to sound more professional
– add more explanations
– repeat the same idea from different angles

And then it gets worse.

Because the problem is usually not the wording.

The problem is not knowing what to focus on, what to explain, and what to leave out.

That is why even strong artists can end up with applications that feel unclear.

This guide is about helping you focus on what matters, say it clearly, and tell your story in a convincing way.

It helps you understand what to write about, what matters in your work, and how to make that readable to someone who sees 100 applications a day.

If you’ve been guessing your way through applications, this will change how you approach them.

Stop guessing what to write.
Start submitting with clarity. Link in bio

Hey artist ✨

I have last spots left for April for my 1-on-1 application support.

If writing about your work feels overwhelming, or you keep rewriting applications and still feel like the text isn’t really you, this is exactly what we work through together.

In our sessions, we sit down, go deep into your practice, and clarify what is actually there. We will turn your ideas into clear, strong texts you can reuse across multiple applications.

I only take a limited number of people each month, so once these 2 spots are gone, April is fully booked.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me.
If you’re ready to move forward, you can book a free intro meeting via the link in my bio ❤️✨

Most of the time, when I sit down to write an artist statement, I don’t start with the actual writing. I start by trying to understand what is really there. What is the practice. What themes keep coming back. How the work is made. What is personally driving it. And why it matters. I find that when these parts become clearer, the writing becomes much less intimidating. A lot of artists think they need a sophisticated first sentence. But usually that is exactly what makes the process harder. You don’t need sophisticated words. You need a clear story others can follow and understand. This is how I start every time.
