In the context of the exhibition SOFT ENCOUNTERS from Parallax Lab, we invite you to join a sound session at Floating University.
Parallax Lab is an art:science collective interested in exchanging perspectives, observing the world from other points of (non-)human views and senses. In this case, we would like to concentrate on experiences we perceive through the ear. Through deep and active listening within the acoustics of the outdoor area of Floating University we are able to give sound a different and expanded attention. Sound as a form of expression can show us unutterable and unvisualisable places and stimulate our body as well as our mind.
To mark the occasion, we are hosting a listening session where various artists and DJs will present their works to us live on a proper sound system. Get ready for a guided auditive tour within the Floating University, and let's travel, explore and discover this beautiful place together.
Afterwards there will be an open, immersive and interactive 360° Jamsession hosted by Kollektiv eigenklang where the listening joints the creation of music. So feel free to bring your instruments or machines to collectively enjoy the evening there.
13:30 - 18:00 Listening Session
18:00 - 21:00 Participative Jam Session

for our upcoming exhibition at Floating University we are now launching an Open Call for artists to apply for a 45-60 minute live performance or an hour long dj set within the framework of ambient, noise and experimental electronic music.

we will host a listening session focusing on the theme of Deep Listening and are open for contributions!
originally, pauline oliveros’ practice aims to focus on the sounds and silences surrounding us. this enables us to expand our consciousness of the sonic world in as many dimensions of awareness and attentional dynamics as humanly possible.

the session will take place on saturday 16th of october in the afternoon at floating university. if you are interested in contributing with your music or performance, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject „px open call“ and a music example or a link to a performance of yours until october 6th. preferred are applications by female, q***r or PoC artists.

PARALLAX LAB

/ˈparəlaks/ the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions.

PARALLAX lab is an open platform where scientists and artists can meet, exchange and create. We have weekly meetings, regular workshops and constant discussions in order to develop projects that challenge standard forms of knowledge. We stand by the collective effort to exchange skills, share resources and connect differences.

PARALLAX lab is a place where no sexism, racism, homophobia, transphomophobia or other form of discrimination is tolerated. We support gender and ethnic diversity.

Organized by students from Universität der Künste and Technische Universität Berlin.
