STOP OVER – For Young Ears

PARTICIPATORY CHILDREN’S CONCERT IN BERLIN
November 20-23, 2026
exploratorium Berlin

Call for entries from across Germany!

We warmly invite musicians, music educators, dramaturgs, composers, and interdisciplinary teams or collectives to submit innovative participatory artistic concepts for a children’s concert in the field of jazz and improvised music.

We are especially interested in cross-disciplinary approaches – collaborations between jazz musicians and artists, educators, or practitioners from other musical fields are highly encouraged.

Existing concepts are welcome and/or can be further developed for this context.

This project includes 2 rehearsal days and 2 concert days with 2 performances each. We are offering a total budget of up to €25,000.

The project will take place November 20-23, 2026 at exploratorium Berlin as a part of the ‘STOP OVER’ series by the House of Jazz – Zentrum für Jazz und Improvisierte Musik, and is developed within the pilot phase Zentrum Under Construction.

Applications can be submitted online at apply.zentrum-under-construction.berlin until June 14, 2026.

PODCAST Episode 4 still online!
In this episode of the zentrum under construction podcast series, some of the protagonists of our first ZENTRUM LAB on November 20, 2025 at Kühlhaus Berlin speak about the charms and the challenges of curating. In a so called “Gedankenküche,” a “thought kitchen” curated by Tina Heine, various curators, artists, and representatives from public and private funding bodies discussed the roles, responsibilities, and framework conditions of curatorial practice. Some of the insights from their lectures and the panel discussions can be heard in this podcast, based on interviews Götz Bühler conducted at the end of this experience.
