1,2,3 SOLEIL — BELIEVE möchte Kindern und jungen Erwachsenen die künstlerischen Mittel an die Hand geben, ihre Zukunft selber zu gestalten. Drei Workshops beleuchten die (de-)stabilisierende Wirkung von Glauben. Im Fokus stehen dabei die gemeinschaftsstiftende Wirkung von Tanz, die Bedeutung von Idolen, politische Meinungsbildung und das Kreieren mit den eigenen Händen.

Leman Sevda Darıcıoğlu: Lick the scar, enter the wound

Lick the scar, enter the wound is a 33 minutes long investigation of a normally-long-durational-performance-artist on what is residing in Q***r body from the Global South in the sense of vulnerability and strength. By combining oriental and q***r aesthetics and employing a ritualistic movement dynamics, the performance questions embodied resistance strategies against conservative, cis-heteropatriarchal repressive regimes as well as attempts to break down exoticization and fetishisation of the Global Southern Q***rness.

Nadim Vardag: Untitled, 2020; Untitled, 2022

To the left and right of the kiosk windows Nadim Vardag has installed two artworks. In his drypoint etchings, like the one in the showcase, Vardag focuses on the motifs of the knot or the fabric. The technique of etching serves Vardag as a means of a pictorial language that deals with the (image and world) ordering functions of grids and structures. With these works, Vardag deepens his exploration of how we see, the visible and its representation. Facing this is an empty folding frame, normally used for advertising purposes. The frame seems to function as a placeholder for something else, but is above all a sign of our constant desire for more.

About the artist
Nadim Vardag (*1980) lives and works in Vienna. In his artistic practice he addresses the issue of exhibiting or showing itself. In doing so, he also refers to presentation formats from public space such as advertising displays and guidance systems. Most recently, his works were shown in solo exhibitions at Stations and New Toni in Berlin.

Mara Wohnhaas: Another effort to blow it

The performance Another effort to blow it is a cascade of carefully entwined words. Placed in the middle of the swimming pool action, Wohnhaas exposes herself to the power of noise. Where words had influence, they seem to have none here. A game of inaction confronts the spectators as well as the performer with a supposed destitution reminiscent of how we deal with current crises.

Mara Wohnhaas, born in Karlsruhe in 1997, studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the class of Rita McBride.

Lauryn Youden created the player Many parts to make a Whole (2021) for the website. The players add or subtract sound tracks from the sound work Those stones which also express themselves at dawn (Wave Guide) over the electromagnetic waves of the Emma Kunz Grotto in Würenlos. This allows you to create your own composition.

Camp Solong: Losing Weight, 2021

In the video Losing Weight, camp counselors Fluffy and Baloo guide the viewer through the steps of digging a hole in the ground. The activity demonstrates how to lighten one's emotional load through a hands-on process of digging and releasing.

Camp Solong is an ongoing collaboration founded in 2016 by Dafna Maimon & Ethan Hayes-Chute.
