Zu den größten Besucherlieblingen zählen die Pandabären Meng Meng und Jiao Qing. Sie bewohnen den asiatischen Panda Garden, eine der schönsten Anlagen für Bambusbären weltweit. Im August 2019 kam dort der erste Panda-Nachwuchs Deutschlands zur Welt – und das gleich doppelt: Die beiden Pandabrüder Pit und Paule eroberten im Sturm die Herzen Berlins! Zoo Berlin is in a class of its own! Not only is it the oldest and most frequently visited zoo in the country, it is also home to the largest variety of species of any zoo in the world – including the only Giant Pandas in Germany. Some 20,000 animals representing almost 1,200 species live in the 33-hectare site at the heart of Berlin’s City West. It was here, in August 2019, that Berlin welcomed Germany’s first-ever panda cubs: twin brothers Pit and Paule, who immediately captured the hearts of Berliners and visitors alike!
