Das Zeichnen begleitet Max Giermann seit früher Kindheit als grundlegende Form seines Ausdrucks.
Später tritt die Malerei hinzu und entwickelt sich über Jahre zu einer eigenständigen Praxis, bewusst unabhängig von seiner öffentlichen Tätigkeit.

Die Gemälde folgen einer eigenen inneren Logik und entziehen sich biografischen Lesarten.

A time without phones, social media and constant documentation already feels unreal. Hard to imagine how people met with just one plan, stayed for hours, or simply shared a moment without recording it. New York musician and photographer Nick Zinner – best known as guitarist and songwriter of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs – captured exactly that atmosphere in the early 2000s.

In „September“, Dornfeld puts process and materiality at the center of his practice. His new paintings are marked by immediacy, repetition, and a deliberately reduced visual language. They span the genres of portrait, abstraction, still life, and landscape. What might initially seem naive or simplified unfolds into a focused investigation of form, surface, and subjectivity. While art historical references are present, they remain open ended and non prescriptive. The paintings move fluidly between figuration and abstraction, leaving room for ambiguity and gesture.
