This method aims to bring down the barriers and limitations of expression through words and replace them with creativity in using images and artworks.
By offering a set of mind triggering tasks, participants will be guided to use simple and easy-to-achieve visual art techniques to materialise their thoughts.
The aim of the workshop is to offer a time-space in which the attendees can feel safe and break free from judgments of others and their own. It is in this atmosphere that they create and share their thoughts and experiences.
By learning an alternative to express freely, the participants are invited to break free from limitations of language and for a few hours put down their judgment and instead communicate through direct visual connectivity. Not only to experience the joy of creativity but also to build bridges towards their surroundings.
Schedule & Method
These workshops consist of two different methods:
The long-term ongoing program
This approach focuses on an ongoing schedule of 24 sessions designed for a long-term research base and result based program. The workshops take place on a monthly basis (two sessions of four hours per month) during twelve months targeting the same group. While the group will be equipped with skills, techniques and understanding of the materials, they are given tasks that involves practices of self-awareness, involvement with the past and consciousness towards aims, feelings and thoughts.
The short-term & intensive program
The workshops will take place during ten sessions spread across five days. Each session consists of four hours with a small break in between.
In addition, there will be a brief session of introduction to the project as well as a closure session dedicated to selecting the art works and preparing them for the final presentation.
During every session participants will be given a different task and will experiment a new visual-art technique such as working with collage and painting with different materials.
In both programs the content of each task offered in every session is based on themes that require certain amount of a self awareness and sensitivity in approaching the surrounding.
These exercises vary between different themas, from the refugees’ impressions of their new lives in Germany to visualising their personalities, aims and inner wishes.
The outcomes of every session will be discussed in the group at the end of the day.
