Gamelan Lindhu Raras – Music from the Javanese Courts
Sa. 18.7.2026
The Javanese gamelan ensemble Lindhu Raras was formed in Berlin as the
result of a workshop in 2007 with the late Dhalang (puppeteer) and
musician Sri Joko Raharjo. He gave Lindhu Raras its name, which means
harmonious quake in the Javanese language, and encouraged the workshop
participants to continue performing together. Ever since, the ensemble
has grown and developed, bringing together musicians from a rich
diversity of cultural backgrounds and presenting traditional Javanese
music and dance in various settings in Berlin as well as beyond. Most
recently the ensemble has performed at Luftschloss, Villa Kuriosum, as
well as its home at the House of Indonesian Cultures, Berlin.

In a rare performance for the Galiläakirche, the delicate sounds and
layered textures of the gamelan orchestra will expand in the space of
the church as the group performs large pieces and suites from the
classical repertoire of the royal courts of central Java. Lindhu Raras
will be joined by special guests from Hamburg and Budapest for this
evening.

İstanbul & Berlin-based singer - songwriter Simge Pınar is known for her poetic, emotionally charged songwriting and her ability to connect deeply with listeners through her powerful stage presence. Her debut album, Güzel Şeyler (2019), produced by Harun Tekin of Turkish rock giants mor ve ötesi, was praised for its lyrical depth and modern sound, marking a breakthrough in the Turkish indie scene.

In 2022, she released her second album, Sevgideğer, under Universal Music Turkey and produced by Efe Demiral, further establishing her signature blend of warm, melancholic pop/rock infused with storytelling rooted in personal and collective memory. Her EPs, including Güzel Şeyler Akustik and Sevgideğer Akustik, showcase her songs in raw, intimate arrangements, emphasizing her evocative vocals and lyrical honesty.

In 2023, she released the EP „Sevgideğer-Akustik,“ which featured collaborations with Nova Norda and Deniz Tekin, two of the leading figures in Istanbul’s alternative music scene. Building an authentic, bold, and universal musical language, she is now gearing up to bring her music to international festival stages.

Beginn: 20:00 Uhr
Einlass: 19:30 Uhr
