This old lady was hilarious. She heard us speaking Spanish and slowly made her way over to us. When she got there, she started talking to us in Spanish and tried to convince us to buy one of her bags. I was honestly surprised by how sweet she was and how well she spoke Spanish. She kept insisting that I give her exactly two euros. I told her I’d happily give her the two euros, but first I wanted to take a picture of her. While I was getting ready to take the photo, I tried to crack a joke and make her laugh so I could capture her reaction. It worked—she laughed, and I managed to get a great picture.

There is an art to slowing down, and no one masters it quite like the elders in Nepal. Sporting their traditional Dhaka topi, you’ll almost always find them near the local temples—reading the morning paper, catching up with old friends, or just quietly observing the world rush by. It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the best thing to do is just sit, breathe, and chill and be in the moment.
