“In my early days as a tattoo artist, black and grey tattoos were my main focus. Since most of the artists I learned from specialized in realism, it felt natural for me to follow that path. Unfortunately, I don’t have photos of my very first tattoos, as eight years ago it wasn’t as common to always have a camera at hand.

The work shown here is from my second year of tattooing back in Chile. Around that time, I slowly began experimenting with color and traditional tattooing, gradually developing a style of my own—simpler, bolder, and with a playful, cute character that would later become a defining part of my work.

For some reason, teenage Toma thought it was peak comedy: baton (a bread loaf) rhymed with salon, so the name of imaginary tattoo studio was „Salon Baton.”)
