The ArtScience Monthly is tonight, 7pm CEST / 1pm ET / 2am JST (for the adventurous!)
Let's envision together new ways of considering the patterns of humans and non-humans, together with artist Karen Margolis and choreographer & dance researcher Dr. Shuntaro Yoshida. Following their inspiration talks, we'll engage in playful exchanges and learn from one another by sharing about our insights and experiences.

The ArtScience Monthly #15 is guest-curated by community member Emily Garfield. Emily has been attending the ArtScience Monthly from New York since summer 2020 and is delighted to add to the program. The speakers are pulled from her networks of driven creatives interested in art and science. Her own work is in creating imaginary maps in pen and watercolor, inspired by biological forms.

Register to the ArtScience Monthly #15 if you haven't done so yet: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/curious-minds-artscience-monthly-15-tickets-155834094973

~ ArtScience Monthly #15 ~

How do you collaborate across oceans? Can you “grow” a dance? And what can we learn from the movement of non-human entities?

Next Tuesday, we'll have the pleasure of listening to Dr. Shuntaro Yoshida. Yoshida is a choreographer, dancer and researcher of contemporary dance who focuses on post-choreography, creating collaborations across distance and species. Through his research as well as his collective Mapped to the Closest Address #mappedstudio, Dr. Shuntaro Yoshida explores decentralized choreography and collaboration across distance and species.

We're looking forward to exploring these questions with you, Curious Minds from around the world!
Join us next Tuesday, June 15, 7pm CET via Zoom

~ ArtScience Monthly #15 ~

How can we enact maps as an intermediary between our physical and internal worlds, between data and emotions? In how far does data-driven work need to be legible? And how can we merge science with imagination?

We're looking forward to delving into these questions with you on Tuesday, together with artist Karen Margolis:

Karen Margolis is a New York City-based visual artist. Her work is inspired by maps as well as the Enso, a sacred circle symbol in Zen Buddhism embodying infinity and perfection. Margolis did research in Neural Psychology while studying portraiture at the Art Student’s League in NYC, and furthered her studies in art at Parsons School of Design and the School of Visual Arts. During a Microscopy course, Margolis was inspired to diverge from her investigations of figurative art in order to create work exploring universality of macro/micro patterns.

We're looking forward to connecting with you, Curious Minds from around the world!

Curious Minds: ArtScience Monthly #15

~ArtScience Monthly #15~
We warmly invite you to join us on Tuesday, June 15 from 7pm CEST for our upcoming community gathering curated by community member Emily Garfield. Following inspiration talks by artist Karen Margolis and choreographer & researcher Dr. Shuntaro Yoshida, we will connect our ideas and intuitions to collectively reconsider the networks around (and within) us.

Karen Margolis creates abstract art that references mapping and considers the universality of micro and macro patterns. Through his research as well as his collective Mapped to the Closest Address Dr. Shuntaro Yoshida explores decentralized choreography and collaboration across distance and species.

As an impact creator, innovator and coach, Yukiko supports people, organizations and communities in developing future-oriented ideas, mindsets and competencies.

Her keynote on the topic of "New Work" will focus on diversity: What potential does diversity hold in the area of personal development and in companies? What innovations address the challenges of society and for companies in this context?

Tell us: To what extent has working in diverse teams offered you new perspectives and added value to your project?

We talked to WELT about our research project BRAINPALACE where the rational, cognitive cosmos of science and curiosity about the emotional, intuitive world of artistic expression meet.
We are already excited about the next phase of our three-year endeavour together with Tatjana Busch, Atelier E and Fraunhofer IAO: Fraunhofer-Institut für Arbeitswirtschaft und Organisation and Fraunhofer-Institut für Techno- und Wirtschaftsmathematik ITWM. Keep your eyes and ears open!

ArtScience Monthly #14: It’s today!
“I found Héloïse Stevance’s website and social media while researching potential data sources and was intrigued by how she researches the science of objects so far away from us while at the same time not being shy to also ask philosophical questions about science.” - Suntka Rinke

Suntka is a mathematician and designer applying speculative concepts to everyday's mathematical encounters. As co-curator of tonight's ArtScience Monthly, she invited astrophysicist Heloïse Stevance for a talk.

This will be our first edition to be realised by members of the Curious Minds Community. We're looking forward to interconnecting with you, today as from 7pm on Zoom!

How are stars born? How do they die? And how do you find out what happens in between and afterwards?
On Tuesday, Dr. Héloïse Stevance will shed some interstellar light on those questions. Héloïse is an astrophysicist, a computational astronomer and also engaged as a science communicator. In her research she focuses on the death of stars and the astronomic life starting after that.

We're looking forward to exploring these questions with you, Curious Minds from around the world! Join us next Tuesday, May 17, 7pm CEST via Zoom, for the ArtScience Monthly #14.

Creative synergies between science, art, and innovation

Founded in 2014, the open science initiative STATE returns to its place of origin: Berlin. With STATE Studio, we unify two festivals, a pop-up studio in Los Angeles and other international adventures in a new permanent forum for future discourse. STATE Studio Berlin presents in its novel 300m² venue the ongoing exhibition series Field Experiments showcasing selected works of artists and designers, that explore the creative friction between cutting-edge science, artistic expressions, and societal discourses. Developed in partnership with Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD) and supported by Johanenlies.
