We are happy to announce that marum will be our new guest film curator for the season 2022 at Hosek Contemporary.

marum's programme is based on their research on sound, electronic and experimental music, queer and feminist rave culture and care politics. As a hybrid format, the programme will include 12 sessions with films and music.

The programme is realised in collaboration with collectives, festivals and other film curators, in order to support and contribute to the creation of new platforms and interdisciplinary actions on a general level and within the queer community. Besides the work of established artists, the programme involves many emerging artists.

Following the principles of inclusiveness and openness, one aim is to reach and cross existing and new audiences of the gallery, while providing visibility for marginalised groups and artists, and in the long-term creating new opportunities for artistic collaborations.

marum is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, DJ and writer based in Berlin. Their practice and research interweave sound, queer rave culture and its implication on social and urban politics, collective care practices and feminist hacktivism.

Salon For the 21st Century is a piece by Isabel Costa in permanent transformation. Initially developed in the Interferências residency, at Companhia Olga Roriz, in 2019, it was also presented at MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, and at the Cumplicidades Festival throughout 2020. In 2021, after an artist residency at Galeria Hosek Contemporary, in Berlin, the artist presents a new version of this work at the same gallery and at the Festival Temps d'Images, in Lisbon.
In this piece, an art salon is inhabited by human beings who spend their time refining their way of talking, of conversing. Nothing exists beyond their bodies and the slippery nature of their thoughts. The second version of this piece explores not only a physical, but also a mental slowing down. Based on works by authors such as Franco Bifo Berardi and Byung Chul-Han, the spectator will have access to texts and thoughts about the construction of a new mental space, a renewal of thought.
