OPENING TODAY!! Join us from 19:00 for

Opening 13.01. from 19:00 with an introduction by Dr. Andreas Bayer, Director, Laboratorium - Institut für aktuelle Kunst im Saarland

The Museum of Modern Art in New York bought two of her landscapes in 1960. Monika von Boch, who perpetuated the New Vision and Bauhaus traditions of the 1920s and ’30s by focussing on the artistic potential of her medium, already ranked among the leading post-war photographers. Von Boch studied in Saarbrücken at the Staatliche Schule für Kunst und Handwerk (State School of Arts and Crafts), in Otto Steinert’s class; and, like him, she had a major hand in revitalising creative and experimental photography.

The Saarländische Galerie in Berlin, in cooperation with the Laboratorium – Institut für aktuelle Kunst im Saarland (Laboratory – Institute of Contemporary Art in Saarland), now presents a representative selection of her work from the period 1950 to 1970.

Digital spaces have become an integral part of our reality. Technology and algorithms determine our lives, affecting our perception and behavior. Artists such as Emma Adler , Mert Akbal .akbal , the Mad Trix collective and the duo Karolina Markiewicz & Pascal Piron make use of the principles of the digital world to encourage discourse on current phenomena as well as on structures in virtual space. Their work reveals the complex intermeshing between virtual and real worlds.
