Online Course FLORAL TIME: How Artists Describe Plants by Joseph Walsh - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

💡 Lend time to experiential approaches around nature & ecology and develop your artistic work from this. Enroll now 🍀

⭐️ In the four sessions of this course we will be undertaking activities and exercises that create ways of looking at nature. We will go into different fields of knowledge including herbalism, botany, philosophy, animism, and horticulture.

🔎 Apply artistic methods to the relationship with nature to make thinkable otherwise ‘alien’ epistemologies.

🔎 Engage with art, writing, and artefacts which describe understandings of human beings’ relationship(s) to nature.

🔎 Topics that will be discussed will include: animist thinking, non-human time, notions of the self in relation to plants, and forms of storytelling that gives natural phenomena a cogent sense of ‘personhood’.

Master Class EXPERIMENTAL & PERSONAL FILMMAKING by Rouzbeh Rashidi

Last days to enroll! Dear film enthusiasts! Let's reshape our notion of what film can be 📽 Don't miss this one-week intensive, immersive on-site program!

💡 Achieve a new understanding & practical approach in the area of experimental cinema and artists’ moving image practices. 🚀 Seats are limited!

⭐️ The one-week master class ‘Experimental & Personal Filmmaking’ is an intensive immersive program that exposes you to alternative film and video history, artist practice, and methods. In addition, it provides you with the knowledge to begin making your own experimental media.

🔎 Through viewings, lectures, discussion and reading, students will survey how filmmakers and artists working in film, video, and digital media have experimented with the moving image to push the boundaries of the medium and their perception of the world around them.

🔎The course will consider how essential films and filmmakers explored the material and conceptual possibilities of film and video to reshape our notion of what film can be.

🔎In addition to looking closely at the images in these works, students will also listen closely to how sound design has played a role in the impact of these creations.

🔎Analysis of these pieces, concerning form, content, and context will help students understand how experimental filmmaking has produced lyrical, idiosyncratic, and aesthetically radical work and will also provide a stimulating foundation for creating their own experimental work.

August 29 – September 04, 2022 🚀 Enroll in the EXPERIMENTAL & PERSONAL FILMMAKING by Rouzbeh Rashidi at . All levels of experience are welcomed and encouraged.

Online Course THE PARADOX OF ART AND LABOUR by Adrian Melis - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

💡 Last days left to enroll! Explore THE PARADOX OF ART AND LABOUR with 4 weekly live sessions, starting on July 19. Expand your artistic & cultural interests and creative skill-sets. 🚀 Seats are limited!

⭐️ The Paradox of Art and Labour is a four-week online course by Adrian Melis (*Havana, 1985) analyzing art practices that engage with socio-political realities and contexts by merging

📍 art with other disciplines such as
📍 economic theory
📍 journalism
📍political studies
📍anthropology and
📍 social practices.

🔎 In order to explore the relationship between Art and Labour, we will be reflecting on their respective ability to (re)produce subjetivities, ideologies and realities.

🔎 In this course, I intend to address and interconnect a way of looking at reality (the economy and politics) aesthetically through the lense of art and analysing what artists do and how they become politically and socially engaged transgressing the boundaries between the art world and reality.

🔎 I will propose to you different exercises and will also be offering reference materials for each session.

🔎 Furthermore, I will invite you to collectively develop an idea for a video work by applying some of the concepts we will have been discussing.

Enroll in the Live Online Course THE PARADOX OF ART AND LABOUR by Adrian Melis from July 19 to August 09, 2022 within the BAI Online Program by Berlin Art Institute.

Online Course ESSAYING THE SELF by Rosalyn D'Mello - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

🚀 Only a few days left to enroll!

💡 This course will positively impact anyone who has the desire to write, and is particularly useful for those who want to explore memoir, autotheory, and autobiography as a genre.

⭐️ With a series of 4 live sessions and assignments spread over the course duration of four weeks, we will address what it means to ‘personalise’ an essay, to insert the self as a subject that uniquely receives and participates in the world.

🔎 It eschews the over-emphasis on craft and language in lieu of enabling writers to access their subjectivity as a replenishable, self-sustaining resource.

🔎 It guides participants to arrive at a fine-tuned, nuanced understanding of their own creative process, allowing them to be more alert to the role of sensory and emotional information received by the body as it relates to its environment.

🔎 Through a series of playful exercises, imaginative prompts, and choice readings, writers will learn how to investigate deeper the sources of their joy, and its role in thinking, feeling, tasting, loving, and living.

Online Course LOVE ME THROUGH THE SCREEN: Text and Moving Image in Contemporary Practices by Susan Finlay & Sophie Lee - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

⏰ Last days to enroll!

💡 Gain new cultural knowledge or build upon your existing artistic skills in the area of text and moving image. 🚀 Seats are limited.

⭐️ Over a series of 4 live sessions spread over the course duration of four weeks, we will approach text, moving image and their intersections from a wide range of perspectives. We will ask:

📍 What are the aesthetics of the archive in relation to technology?

📍 How do q***r and feminist perspectives disrupt and subvert Hollywood tropes?

📍 How might historical narratives and individual memories be intertwined in artist’s film and documentary?

📍 What might we define as expanded cinema in a digital age?

🔎 The course combines a discursive approach with a practical component, with participants undertaking a small text or moving image assignment each week.

🔎 Participants will then have the opportunity to share and receive feedback with the group.

🔎 Collectively we will build an archive of material throughout the course through the online forum, with the option of using this towards a collaborative live streamed video performance in the final session.

Online Course ART AFTER NFTs by Alex Estorick - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

💡 Only one week left to enroll! Identify how current innovations in AI and NFTs are changing the art world as a creative, curatorial, and market structure. 🚀 Seats are limited!

⭐️ The rise of NFTs as a means of tokenizing digital art is restructuring the cultural economy. It is also vastly expanding the field of art to encompass a wealth of transmedia practices that previously existed outside mainstream contemporary art. This paradigm shift in art and commerce is only just beginning, but the seeds of the phygital environment have been planted and demand new tools on the part of critical theorists and artists in order to shape the rules as they are rewritten.

🔎 This course takes participants step-by-step through the new aesthetics of crypto art, situating current developments within a lineage of AI and generative art practices, while tracing a deep history of token economies.

🔎 It also considers the politics of human-machine interaction and how artists are currently confronting knowledge regimes embedded in digital architecture.

🔎 Of course, the blockchain offers a new way to distribute decision-making throughout its native communities, allowing us to reflect on how humans might better apportion value.

🔎 Yet, it also reiterates forms of extraction and exploitation familiar from old hierarchical systems.

🔎 This course examines the work of art after the NFT, and asks how artists might respond to the lure of cryptocurrency as they seek to shape a more equitable Web3.

This year we are happy to run the & – & Practices by Dagmara Genda in the field of & .

Arts and culture in the CrossCulture Programme - Dagmara Genda brings both together as an artist and arts writer as well as trainer for this years’ CCP Fellows. Originally from Poland, Dagmara’s path led her through Canada, the US, and the UK to her current home in Berlin. This itinerant life has bred a practice rooted in drawing and installation extending to public art, writing and curation. Her work is diverse, her vision broad and she enthusiastically shares this with others. 🌍

Together with long-term CCP partner organisation Berlin Art Institute (BAI), Dagmara intends to deepen the CCP Fellows’ understanding for artistic and sociocultural practices as well as accompany them in their own artistic projects. BAI also hosts CCP Fellows this year to enable these projects together.

Online Course DRAWING IT OUT: an exploration into the possibilities of drawing by Dagmara Genda - Online Courses BERLIN ART INSTITUTE

There are only a few days left to enroll in our upcoming BAI Online Course DRAWING IT OUT by Dagmara Genda starting on April 27, 2021! Be quick, as seats are limited!

With a series of 4 live sessions and assignments spread over the course duration of four weeks, we will explore the limits and possibilities of drawing.

🔎 While drawing cannot and should not be defined, the genre can be used as a set of guidelines against which we push in order to discover new material and conceptual possibilities. Can we interpret writing differently when we view it as a drawing and not as a text? Do we start to move differently when we consider drawing as the trace of an action? If lines form a visual language, what do they, or can they say? How can you translate a drawing into sound or movement? Questions like these will guide the course.
