We extended Tatsuo Miyjima's exhibition Unstable in our gallery in Berlin until March 17.

Don't miss the chance to see Tatsuo Miyajima's two new LED-based series of works: Unstable Time and HITEN.

Tatsuo Miyajima is concerned with fundamental questions of time, space, and existence. A significant part of his multifaceted oeuvre comprises works featuring digital light-emitting diodes (LEDs), specially developed by the artist and manufactured for him, whose numerals light up in continuous and repetitive cycles from 1 to 9. For Miyajima, these numerals represent the path from life to death, the finality of which is symbolized by the “0” or zero, which therefore never appears in his works.

Upcoming: Daniel Buren exhibition at Espoo Museum of Modern Art

300 colourful, striped posters have appeared around the winter landscape in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

The posters on JCDecaux billboards are a part of the legendary French artist Daniel Buren’s exhibition that opens next week on 2 March in EMMA! 8.7 cm-wide vertical stripes are Buren's signature visual tool which he has used since the 1960’s to reveal hidden aspects of familiar spaces. Buren is famous for his boundary-pushing interventions through which he brings art outside from art institutions to the public.

Pääkaupunkiseudun talvimaisemaan on ilmestynyt yli 300 värikästä raidallista julistetta 👀

JCDecaux’n mainostauluilla olevat julisteet ovat osa legendaarisen ranskalaisen taiteilijan Daniel Burenin näyttelyä, joka avautuu EMMAssa ensi viikolla 2.3.! 8,7 cm leveä pystyraita on taiteilijan tunnusomainen visuaalinen työkalu, jonka avulla hän on paljastanut tutuista tiloista uusia piirteitä jo 60-luvulta lähtien. Buren on tunnettu taideinstituutioiden rajoja rikkovista taideteoistaan, joilla hän tuo taidetta museoiden ulkopuolelle julkiseen tilaan.

Buchmann Galerie is pleased to announce a major survey exhibition of British sculptor Tony Cragg at HEART - Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, Denmark.

The exhibition presents Tony Cragg's entire oeuvre, from his black-and-white photographs from the 1970s and rough sculptures made of debris, to the colourful works of the 1980s that brought him his breakthrough, to the virtuoso sculptures of recent years.

Tony Cragg explores the possibilities offered by different materials, also in terms of signification. His work incorporates residual products and scraps, and he began working with plastic early in his career. The choice of material is not an overt critique of consumer culture, but rather may indicate a certain acceptance of the existence, properties and even beauty of plastic. In this sense, Tony Cragg's persistent awareness of his chosen materials points to key aspects of the HEART collection, including Piero Manzoni and the Arte Povera movement, all of whom worked in their own way with residual and waste materials in their work.

Some insights into our recent exhibition with new works by Tatsuo Miyajima.

For the exhibition Unstable, Tatsuo Miyajima presents works from two new LED-based series of works: Unstable Time and HITEN.

Miyajima uses nylon fabric for the first time as support ground for the newly developed series Unstable Time. The single-color “LED gadgets” are affixed to fabric in a spiral or circular fashion and count in various rhythms. The instability and softness of the fabric, hung freely on the wall, references the impossibility of being able to fully control the world and adds an element of “instability” to the work that oscillates dialectically between uncontrollability and freedom. Time and the universe are not fixed or absolute, but something gently flowing and malleable. The only thing we can do when confronted with such an uncontrollable world is to face the various phenomena with our imagination.

Keep changing, connect with everything, and continue forever are the three conceptual underpinnings of Tatsuo Miyajima’s multifaceted work. The new works from the HITEN series explore these guiding principles with minimalist precision. LEDs are arranged on small, wall-mounted consoles and change color after each countdown cycle. Tatsuo Miyajima sees this as a reference to reincarnation in Buddhism (Samsara); Friedrich Nietzsche’s concept of eternal return (Ewige Wiederkehr) also comes to mind here. The work’s title, Hiten, is a reference to a painted angel inside the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, China. This angel, donning a vibrantly colored vestment, flies freely in the sky without being controlled by anyone.

The cyclical nature of Tatsuo Miyajima’s work, the constant change that underlies it, invites viewers to reflect and meditate on the “impermanence” or transitoriness of all being.

Herzliche Einladung zur Eröffnung von Tatsuo Miyajimas Ausstellung Unstable , diesen Samstag, 29. Januar.

Tatsuo Miyajima — Unstable

29. Januar— 5 März 2022
Eröffnung: Sanstag 29. Januar 15–20 Uhr

#artbasel #arte #artecontemporanea Art Basel Liste Art Fair Basel Art City Basel Alessio Rattazzi #cdt #corrieredelticino #corrieredelticinoonline #krislemsalu #temnikovakaselagallery #temnikovakasela #lemsalu #sculpture #diving #mixedmediaart #installationart #ceramics #mannequins Buchmann Galerie #artbasel2021 #vanessabeecroft #beecroft #performanceart #liarumma #liarummagallery Hans Ulrich Obrist Jeffrey Deitch JTT #artbaselPodcast #intersections #artmarket #onlineartsales #onlineviewingrooms #artcollecting #OmarBa Galerie Templon #AlexejvonJawlensky Galerie Thomas Schulte Theater Basel Die Mitte Basel-Stadt Stadtcasino Ellen de Bruijne PROJECTS La Prairie Frith Street Gallery Galerie Templon Buchmann Lugano Buchmann Lugano (Immagini per gentile concessione di Art Basel)
#artbasel #arte #artecontemporanea Art Basel Liste Art Fair Basel Art City Basel #cdt #corrieredelticino #corrieredelticinoonline #krislemsalu #temnikovakaselagallery #lemsalu #sculpture #diving #mixedmediaart #installationart #ceramics #mannequins Buchmann Galerie #artbasel2021 #vanessabeecroft #beecroft #performanceart #liarumma #liarummagallery #artbaselPodcast #intersections #artmarket #onlineartsales #onlineviewingrooms #artcollecting #OmarBa #AlexejvonJawlensky Buchmann Lugano Buchmann Lugano
📽🖼🧸🎉 Art Basel ritorna!
