tȇte tête is co-financed and time-shared by a group of artists Each artist organizes one month per year individually. tête is an experiment in how to run an art space, artist run spaces usually being about collective decision making, tête is looking to create a cross section of artistic interests and will investigate as well as deconstruct any idea of ownership and community in the art space and between the artist organisers themselves.

With this in mind, tête has the potential, even destiny, to become an art space as social experiment. The world would not be as interesting and dynamic if economic or financial arrangements remained exclusively economic or financial.

tête is looking for a project to subrent the space this Febuary. Interested? Send us an email at [email protected] for details

No Artist Left Alive

"Further still, artists, both during and after the pandemic, have a lot to offer in terms of allowing us to dream of and practice new social relationships, new economic paradigms, and new structures of care. This has already been one of the most exciting tendencies in “art” in the past decades: a little platform by which radical activists in the belly of the beast license themselves to misappropriate resources and dream dangerously in public."

Danke an @berlinmastersfoundation für die Unterstützung!
Countdown läuft! Wir freuen uns sehr auf die Vernissage morgen Donnerstag ab 18:00!

MUST SEE: BERLIN MASTERS 2019 Finalist Jonas Büßecker will take over the project space "téte" for a five day residency. He will further his practice of incorporating the exhibition space — from the walls to the floor to the ceiling — within his sculptures which hang, stretch and create tension from thin chords.

As viewers, we are invited to embark on our own journey into the heart of the installation, that — with more or less distance — will allow us different perspectives on the installation, the space, the artist and our regard on it.

IN SITU
An installation by Jonas Büßecker,
with the support of Collection Libre.
Vernissage November 7th 18:00
Showings by appointment from November 8th to November 21st.

Very happy to announce PEP’s new open call! Theme: OBSESSIONS The selected artists will take part in a collective exhibition at the gallery tȇte in Berlin in July 2021. In their creative practice, many artists gravitate towards certain ideas that are intruding on their mind and to which they keep on returning over and over again - some forms of obsessions that drive them to create. The extraordinary perseverance and the willingness to take risks that arise from them are often the driving force that feeds artists’ productivity, allowing them to grow in their practice and deliver exceptional outcomes while expanding their singular universe. Where is the line between returning to a theme or an idea over and over again and an obsessive behavior? Do artists nurture a pathological obsession with their creations, or is it on the contrary the necessary force that will help them persevering despite all the obstacles they will encounter along the way, allowing them to reach a certain form of greatness? What kind of obsession drives you in your quest for images? What does it reveal about yourself and how does your photographic practice help you grow, both artistically and personally? Does it bring clarity to your deepest interrogations or have any kind of therapeutic function, for yourself or for the people involved in your projects? Does the fact of diving into the obsessions of your inner world help you existing or resisting in an anxious context like the one we are facing now? All approaches to the topic are welcome, we are looking forward to discovering the ideas that are invading your mind! Deadline: May 13, 2021 Info: www.pep.photography/calls © image by Nicolas Polli

Call by Photographic Exploration Project | Exhibition opportunity for photographic projects on the theme of Escape. Selected artists will get to show their work at the gallery tȇte in Berlin in September 2020. Learn more: https://bit.ly/31QG4r4
After this long break, we are very happy to announce PEP’s new open call! The selected artists will take part in a collective exhibition at the gallery tȇte in Berlin in October 2020. Theme: ESCAPE For this new exhibition, we invite artists to show how their photographic practice can be used as a way to escape from certain realities. The various limitations we face in everyday life, whether related to a particular situation or to how society is structured, often lead us to look for ways of overcoming them. While some of us seek refuge in remote places or in nature, others are exploring means that allow a certain distortion of reality and the creation of a parallel, dreamlike universe. The motivations behind this search for evasion are numerous and very different for everyone: escaping from our mundane way of seeing, from the daily routine, from the city, getting away from one’s thoughts, from certain circumstances, longing for spirituality, and many more. Is escapism a synonym of dreaming? Can the photographic medium, which by essence reproduces the present, become a tool to get away from it? Can it provide a means of breaking away from the past? From your memories? Or from your own feelings? All approaches to the topic are welcome, we are looking forward to seeing your works!
