▪️ 𝗚𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗺 𝗔𝗱𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 (Hoe__mies | Podcaster | Political Education)
▪️ 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗷𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿i𝗮𝗻 (Künstler:innen Management für u.a. VISA VIE (official) und Grossstadtgeflüster)
▪️ NORAA (Artist | Songwriter @ Universal Music Publishing Group)

Inviting you to follow our intervention - Nzukato - live at on Tuesday evening 6pm. Nzukato means „coming together“ in Igbo and is a podcast & dialogue event. (Streaming-Link in my bio).
In this context, Nigerian photographer & myself invited 4 *Berliner* individuals to gather at the GARDEN OF STONES of ‘s exhibition „There is no such thing as solid ground“ at Gropius Bau, reflecting & sharing our idea and understanding of home, as bodies of the diaspora.
✨Home here and elsewhere✨

“Nzukota” is an Igbo language expression which translates to “coming together”. On 8 December, the online lecture “Nzukota: Coming Together”, hosted by Emeka Okereke and Pamela Owusu-Brenyah, will bring together individuals presently living, staying or visiting Berlin to reflect on their notion of “home” as it relates to the state of being “here and elsewhere”. Employing dialogue, readings and music, the gathering will create a discursive atmosphere for the weaving of anecdotes, stories and incidents in connection to the space and dispositions of the participants. The event is part of Otobong Nkanga’s solo exhibition “There’s No Such Thing as Solid Ground” and will be broadcast live from 18:00. bit.ly/nzukota

*1st curated event after Coriina and EVERYONE is cordially invited *🙂

It is important to tell and capture our own stories.
Against this background the Female To Empower: Afro x series combines music - documentaries with live concerts and aims to tell the little and big stories of music that have hardly been heard from an exclusively female perspective.

"Three black women in the music industry: a DJ, a singer and a music advisor. They will be talking about their personal and professional experiences. A multi-perspective conversation, which gives an insight into the importance of their African roots for their work, why positive racism partly benefits them in the music business and which stereotypes they encounter again and again as black women."

Get your tickets :-) : https://bit.ly/31RvkXE

Female composers, DJs, and producers are and have always been part of the musical present, but to this day they are hardly mentioned in the male-dominated narratives of music history.
The 2nd evening of Female to Empower is curated by my platform and takes a contemporary look at the musical work of Afro-diasporic women* in music.

Programme:
7.30 p.m., film: Assurance
8:15 p.m., talk: jubamusicldn and NORAA in conversation with Owusu-Brenyah
9 p.m., concert: NORAA
9.30 p.m., DJ set: Juba

please follow the Corona-rules in the event.

Our panel discussion: DO IT YOURSELF - African Music Festivals for Digital Festival 2020 is a wrap and we are more than happy.
A huge Thank You goes to my amazing guests , of .❤️
Major Music Festivals won’t take place this year because of Covid-19. The year of 2019 was a fantastic year for African Music Festivals globally. , and many more had thousands of African Music Lovers flooded in from all around the world, wanting to see their favorite African Artist, listen to their fav music, as well as celebrating music culture and meeting like-minded enthusiasts.
The impact of these festivals, and contribution towards the visibility and promotion of African Pop Music, Artists and Culture is immense. Can it be a powerful motor to change narratives and be a driving force in the increasing perception and awareness of African Culture, Music, and their people?
If you want to know more, you can follow our discussion on the 26th of August on ’s page.

We will keep you posted.

Have a beautiful weekend ALL! 💕

The year 2020 started off and we felt like „THE SKY IS THE LIMIT“. ✨💫
These pictures remind us of a time when we were happily working for the , discussing ways, how African creatives and the creative industry can be a motor of change, development and self-empowerment. 💪🏽
Parallel we were excited to plan our next two Afro x Pop Festivals in Hamburg and Cologne. 🍍🍉🍌
Two months later, the feeling is different. Unfortunately we have to cancel both festivals: 6.+7. June in Hamburg and 22. +23. August in Cologne. 😢
We are still processing the decision of the government: „No major events till the 31st of August.“ But at least now we know 😅!
Dear followers, we wish each of you all the best and that you manage to get through this special time - healthy and without harm.
Please stay tuned. New dates and what’s next will surely pop-up on your time-line. ~Yours truly 💕
By the way, today is World Earth Day 🌍 🌎 🌏.
We might not be so happy for this gridlock, but mother earth surely is. Lets give our planet a deserved break from us! 😇

(BERLIN) FUNDING OPPORTUNITY by Musicboard Berlin.

We were one of the lucky receivers of the Pop-Kultur/lokal funding last year and still have wonderful memories of our AFRO x POP LIVE Event (talk & concert / DJ-set) at Kantine am Berghain.

It's a great opportunity with a low-barrierer-application process.

"Berlin music promoters, the »Pop-Kultur lokal« program continues, 4 events will receive 2000€ funding each.
Apply here now https://www.pop-kultur.berlin/en/blog/pop-kultur-lokal-call-for-concepts-2020 until 10th of March 2020!"

The »Pop-Kultur lokal« series is back this year, once again featuring some of the most interesting spaces in Berlin and their networks. We're funding your concepts for a music-based evening, which could also take an interdisciplinary or discursive approach.
